This work investigates the impacts on fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of a diesel power generator operating with biodiesel. Fuel blends 5%, 20%, 35%, 50%, 85% soybean biodiesel in oil, containing 35% castor oil were tested, varying engine load from 9.6 to 35.7 kW. Specific (SFC) concentrations carbon dioxide (CO2), monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) evaluated. The was kept its original settings for operation. results showed increased higher concentration fuel. Soybean lower than at...

This work presents the physical–chemical properties of fuel blends waste cooking oil biodiesel or castor with diesel oil. The evaluated were density, kinematic viscosity, cetane index, distillation temperatures, and sulfur content, measured according to standard test methods. results analyzed based on present specifications for in Brazil, Europe, USA. Fuel density viscosity increased increasing concentration, while content was reduced. Cetane index is decreased high temperatures T10 T50 are...

Rigid polyurethane foams were synthesized using a renewable polyol from the simple physical mixture of castor oil and crude glycerol. The effect catalyst (DBTDL) content blowing agents in foams’ properties evaluated. use (cyclopentane n-pentane) allowed with smaller cells to be obtained comparison produced chemical agent (water). increase water caused decrease density, thermal conductivity, compressive strength, Young’s modulus, which indicates that increment CO2 production contributes...

Brazilian automotive gasoline has been the target of constant adulterations in an attempt to raise profit margins as a result market flexibility and ensuing increased competition. Gasoline adulteration with solvents is common because present lower taxation comparison gasoline. In face this, importance developing low-cost analytical techniques such spectroscopy certify quality authenticity fuels used Brazil conspicuous. This work IR multivariate (principal components analysis-linear...

Chemometric data analysis was applied to chromatographic as a modeling tool identify the presence of solvents in gasoline obtained at gas stations Minas Gerais state. As training set, 75 samples were formulated by mixing pure gasolines with varying concentrations four and analyzed chromatography–mass spectrometry. Selected peak areas used chemometric analysis. Sample distribution patterns investigated principal component (PCA). Score graphics revealed clear sample agglomeration according...

Venturi easy ambient sonic-spray ionization mass spectrometry working in the liquid mode (VL-EASI-MS) is shown to provide rapid and reliable characterization of crude oil distillates. With no extraction or pretreatments, samples gasoline, kerosene, diesel, admixtures gasoline/diesel gasoline/kerosene were directly analyzed by VL-EASI(+)-MS. Homologous series natural N-heteroaromatics detected their protonated forms providing typical profiles polar markers. For VL-EASI(+)-MS detects a...
