Abstract Background and Purpose Current evidence shows that surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) transcatheter (TAVR) are comparable equally beneficial in patients with severe stenosis (AS) across different risk profiles. Our aim was to analyse potential differences cardiac damage related AS between undergoing SAVR those treated TAVR a contemporary cohort of AS. Methods Retrospective analysis prospective who underwent or tertiary care center from 2017 2022. Clinical echocardiographic...
K-shell x-ray emission following low-energy charge exchange collisions ( </=11 eV/amu) has been measured for ten bare and hydrogenic ions up to U91+. The data resolve capture into angular momentum states with l = 1 provide a stringent test of theory. assumption Stark mixing is inappropriate at such energies. Results from detailed calculations give better description the data, but significant discrepancies are noted. measurements show that hardness ratio charge-exchange induced represents...
During the 11 month period up to 30 September 1987, 37 patients (26 male, female, mean age 27 years) with respiratory symptoms who were human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive, studied prospectively on 40 occasions determine cause of any pulmonary complications. HIV was heterosexually transmitted. Predominant cough (89%), fever weight loss (83%), and dyspnoea (60%). Transnasal fibre-optic bronchoscopy (with bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchial brushings transbronchial lung biopsies)...
Transition probabilities of three magnetic dipole (M1) transitions in multiply charged ions Ar have been measured using the Livermore electron-beam ion trap. Two are ground configurations XIV (B-like) and IX (F-like), associated with coronal lines at 4412.4 5533.4 Å, respectively. The third is excited 2s2p configuration Be-like XV produces line 5943.73 Å. Our results for atomic level lifetimes 9.32 ± 0.12 ms X 2s22p5 2P level, 9.70 0.15 2s22p2P 15.0 0.8 2s2p3P level. These differ...
We have studied the polarization properties of dielectronic satellite lines in Be-like Fe ions excited through resonant electron capture by an beam. Using photon density-matrix formalism, we calculated degree and polarization-dependent spectra lines, i.e., spectral intensity distribution associated with a given state. Theoretical results been compared experiments performed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory electron-beam ion trap where line emission from produced different energies...
We describe a novel approach for measuring fluid bulk properties such as refractive index (RI) and temperature changes in tubes of capillary dimensions based on simple optical configuration which uses an unfocused He−Ne laser, cylindrical tube, photodetector. Side illumination fused silica produces fan radiation 360° plane normal to the central axis that is spatially well defined lateral direction. It shown that, upon viewing high-contrast interference pattern contained beam profile flat...
We present the first definitive measurement of charge state distribution a highly ionized gold plasma in coronal equilibrium. The experiment utilized Livermore electron beam ion trap EBIT-II novel configuration to create with Maxwellian temperature 2.5 keV. balance was inferred from spectral line emission measurements which accounted for exchange effects. measured average ionization 46.8+/-0.75. This differs predictions two modeling codes by up four states.
The x-ray spectrum of heliumlike ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{20+}$ excited by a monoenergetic electron beam was measured at an energy just above the electron-impact excitation threshold (4800 eV) with pair polarization-sensitive spectrometers. Values for linear polarization were inferred $1s2p{}^{1}{P}_{1}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{1s}^{2}{}^{1}{S}_{0}$ resonance line, $1s2p{}^{3}{P}_{1}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{1s}^{2}{}^{1}{S}_{0}$ intercombination...
M-shell spectra of W ions have been produced at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory EBIT-II electron beam ion trap-II different energies beam. A survey has performed 2.4, 2.8, and 3.6 keV, for steps in energy 100 eV over 3.94.6 keV range. The analysis 11 shown presence a wide variety ionization stages from Se-like to Cr-like W; appearances these correlate well with their production. present paper focuses on identification 63 experimental features spectral region 5 6 Å (1 = 10 10 m)...
We report laboratory studies of the role played by multiple-electron capture (MEC) in solar wind-induced cometary X-ray emission. Collisions Ne10+ with He, Ne, Ar, CO, and CO2 have been investigated means traditional noncoincident-singles spectroscopy addition to triple-coincidence measurements X-rays, scattered projectile, target recoil ions for atomic targets. The coincidence enable one reduce singles spectra into partial originating single-electron (SEC) MEC collisions. provide...
Polarization spectroscopy of x-ray lines represents a diagnostic tool to ascertain the presence electron beams in high-temperature plasmas. Making use Livermore beam ion trap, which optimizes linear line polarization by exciting highly charged ions with monoenergetic beam, we have begun develop diagnostics and test theoretical models. Our measurement relies on sensitivity crystal spectrometers depends value Bragg angle. We employed two differing analyzing crystals simultaneously recorded...
The results from the last six years of X-ray spectroscopy and spectropolarimetry high-energy density Z-pinch plasmas complemented by experiments with electron beam ion trap (EBIT) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) are presented. two topics discussed development M-shell W spectroscopic diagnostics K-shell Ti plasmas. main focus is on radiation a specific load configuration called an “X-pinch”. In this work study X-pinches tungsten wires combined other, lower Z materials...
We have calculated the polarization properties of dielectronic satellite lines in Li- and Be-like Fe ions excited through resonance electron capture by a monoenergetic beam. Following density matrix formalism, we computed degree spectral intensity distribution satellites associated with given state. Theoretical results were compared experiments performed at Livermore Electron Beam Ion Trap where line emission from was simultaneously recorded two crystal spectrometers. These are relevant to...
We measured fluconazole levels in sputum samples obtained from 11 bronchiectatic volunteers at 4 and 24 h after a single oral dose of 150 mg fluconazole. Levels were similar to plasma both times.
We present H-like Fe XXVI and He-like XXV charge-exchange spectra resulting from collisions of highly charged iron with N2 gas at an energy 10 eV/amu in electron beam ion trap. Although individual high-n emission lines are not resolved our measurements, we observe that the most likely level for Fe25+ --> Fe24+ capture is n~9, line expectations, while value Fe26+ charge exchange significantly higher. In spectrum, K-alpha feature dominates, whether produced via or collisional excitation....
We calculate x-ray line polarization degrees for cases with axial symmetry using a collisional-radiative magnetic-sublevel atomic kinetics model and the properties of multipole radiation fields. This approach is well suited problems where alignment determined by competition between many processes. benchmark this method against measurements performed at Livermore electron beam ion trap, we study 3-to-2 cascade effects on 2-to-1 lines in He-like Fe.
We report the first experimental results on state selective cross-section ratio ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{+\mathrm{*}}$/${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{\mathrm{*}}$ of helium for electron and proton impact. Our show consistently higher yields electrons than protons at velocities. A comparison is made between ratios ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{2+}$/${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{+}$
Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility, Mössbauer, and far-i.r. spectral data are correlated to show that bis[hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate]iron(II) exhibits a low-spin, high-spin crossover at high temperature.
