Alkaptonuria is an extremely rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder characterized by dark urine, ochronosis, and arthritis of the spine major joints. We report a case ochronotic observed during total knee replacement surgery in 65-year-old male patient with no relevant medical history. Based on literature review, this first reported Korea.
Background Paricalcitol has protective effects in several kidney injury models but the mechanism by which this occurs remains unclear.
