Abstract As chiral ligands for transition metal complex catalyzed asymmetric reactions, various kinds of ferrocenylphosphines, which have planar chirality due to 1,2-unsymmetrically substituted ferrocene structure and also a functional group on the side chain nucleus, were prepared. (S)-N,N-dimethyl-1-[(R)-2-(diphenylphosphino)ferrocenyl]ethylamine [(S)-(R)-PPFA], (S)-N,N-dimethyl-1-[(R)-1′,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocenyl]ethylamine [(S)-(R)-BPPFA], their dimethylphosphino derivatives...

The enterotoxicity of an El Tor-like hemolysin purified from non-O1 Vibrio cholerae was investigated. Fluid accumulation induced by injection into the ligated intestinal loops in adult rabbits (De test), intraintestinal administration infant (Dutta and oral inoculation suckling mice. accumulated fluid invariably mucous bloody, a histological change mucosa observed. These results suggest that is enterotoxic factor responsible for V. gastroenteritis.

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are transcription factors belonging to the nuclear receptor superfamily. PPARgamma mRNA is present in cardiac myocytes; however, whether affects hypertrophy remains unknown. We investigated effects of activators on neonatal rat myocytes. Cyclic 4% biaxial mechanical strain caused enlargement myocytes (1.3-fold versus control, P<0.0001), but troglitazone and 15-deoxy-Delta(12-14)-prostaglandin J(2) (15d-PGJ(2)) (10 micromol/L) inhibited this...

The long-term impact of acute self-limited hepatitis B on the liver is unknown. Fourteen patients were recalled at a median 4.2 years (range, 1.8-9.5 years) after onset B. All showed clinical and serologic recovery with circulating surface antigen (HBsAg) clearance. Antibody to HBsAg (anti-HBs) had developed in 12 patients. Nine underwent biopsies 7.2 years, histologic findings evaluated using Ishak scores. Serum samples frozen tissue subjected real-time detection polymerase chain reaction...

Rodent and human clinical studies have shown that transplantation of bone marrow stem cells to the ischemic myocardium results in improved cardiac function. In this study, cynomolgus monkey acute myocardial infarction was generated by ligating left anterior descending artery, autologous CD34+ were transplanted peri‐ischemic zone. We sequenced the DNA encoding cytolytic activity and found that sequence contained two open reading frames, vvhA vvhB. encoded structural gene for N-terminal amino acid previously reported protein. Regions showed homology to cholerae E1 Tor hemolysin.

It has been established that the long-term infection of chronic hepatitis C leads to increased risk hepatic fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Currently, histological diagnosis by invasive painful liver biopsy is gold standard for evaluating stage. Because a side effect or patient inability cope with pain, it difficult assess stage frequently using biopsy. Recently, instead biopsy, many articles have published showing usefulness ultrasound elastography evaluate fibrosis. We also reported...
