Up to the date of writing this article, a quantitative analysis between corrosion rate and combined microstructural parameters including composition, grain size, precipitations has not been reported. Hence, literature review was carried out on these understand effect each one Mg alloys. Moreover, using available data in several experimental results, new model developed predict rate, through parameters. This suggests that by ultra-fined grains, alloying compounds with low Volta-potential...

The effects of different elements including Al, Sn and Zn with ability solution hardening on corrosion behavior a Mg alloy have been studied. microstructure was analyzed the electrochemical immersion techniques were used for studies. Scanning kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM) utilized to analyze volta-potential distribution surface. It found that all additives reduced resistance; however, decreased resistance less than Al Sn. rate quantitatively explained through difference second phase fraction.

Microstructure, texture, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of the extruded Mg–4Zn alloy, as a biodegradable material, were investigated. A refined microstructure caused by dynamic recrystallization (DRX), general fiber texture achieved after extrusion. Mechanical along different directions samples investigated using shear punch test (SPT). The yield stress (SYS) 113.8 MPa obtained in transverse direction (TD) was higher than 106 for (ED) 45˚ samples. This attributed to amounts...

Magnesium (Mg) single crystal specimens with three different orientations were prepared and tested from room temperature to 733 K in order systematically evaluate effects of on the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) slips twinning Mg crystals. The duplex non-basal <a> slip took place range 613 when samples stretched along <01¯10> direction. In contrast, basal prismatic mainly activated RT tensile directions inclined at an angle 45° plane, respectively. Viscoplastic self-consistent (VPSC)...

The effects of Ca addition on the microstructure and oxidation properties a new Mg alloy were studied. behavior alloys was analyzed by thermal analysis material characterization exposed in flame environment; both electrical induction furnaces. Moreover, surface layers characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction technique. It found that increasing reduces grain size increases fraction secondary phases, enhances mechanical properties. contents resulted...

Application of biodegradable implants has received increasing attention for the treatment bone damage due to their low adverse effects. To achieve better biocompatibility and enhanced corrosion resistance with improved wear resistance, multifunctional coatings need be developed. Herein, a ceramic hybrid coating been fabricated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) technique using Ta2O5 nanoparticle inclusion on AZ31 Mg alloy in order attain superior corrosion, behavior, surface porosity...
