From 1969 to 1979, ventriculopleural shunts were inserted in 29 children with progressive hydrocephalus. A standard Pudenz pump a Raimondi catheter was used for all but 1 child whom Holter valve used. The shunt functioned adequately 7, 18 it had be changed as result of symptomatic pleural effusion. 1979 1982, further series 52 other patients received shunts, and these cases have recently been reviewed. apparatus Portnoy ventricular or medium high pressure Heyer Schulte an antisiphon device...
Intestinal lymphangiectasia is a well-recognized complication of the Fontan procedure, occurring in up to 24% patients. Because loss chylous fluid into gut lumen, protein-losing enteropathy results as well lymphopenia and hypogammaglobulinaemia. In some cases, dilated lymphatics intestinal serosa or mesentery also rupture, causing ascites. Standard medical cardiac surgical interventions are generally ineffective condition frequently lethal. We report case intractable life-threatening ascites...
Mediastinal infections due to nontuberculous mycobacteria remain an exceedingly rare entity. Most cases in the published literature do not include pediatric patients. Due their clinical infrequency, poor response antimicrobial therapy and often precarious anatomical location, optimal management of these lesions can be challenging.

Abstract Mediastinal infections due to non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) remain an exceedingly rare entity. Most cases in the published literature do not include paediatric patients. Due their clinical infrequency, poor response antimicrobial therapy and often precarious anatomical location, treatment of these lesions presents a challenge. We present four mediastinal NTM infection treated successfully by multi-disciplinary team approach within tertiary centre. All children had extensive...

Thymectomy is part of a multimodal treatment strategy for juvenile myasthenia gravis. Symptoms that persist following thymectomy may be due to residual or ectopic thymic tissue. We report the use FDG PET/CT locate tissue in 10 year old girl with acetylcholine-receptor-antibody-positive gravis, who remained refractory medical therapy. The patient subsequently underwent completion improvement but not remission her condition.
