We have cloned and sequenced a full-length cDNA for the HMG box-containing, SRY -related gene Sox6 from mouse., The deduced protein sequence of has considerable homology with that previously determined Sox5 sequence. It seems likely these genes diverged more recently than other members SOX family, although two map to different chromosomes in mouse. In common , is highly expressed adult mouse testis domains both proteins bind 5′-AACAAT-3′. This suggests may overlapping functions regulation...

Sox-5 is one of a family genes which show homology to the HMG box region testis determining gene SRY. We have used indirect immunofluorescence that protein localized nucleus post-meiotic round spermatids in mouse testis. In vitro footprinting and gel retardation assays demonstrate binds specifically sequence AACAAT with moderately high affinity ( K d ˜10 −9 M). Moreover, interaction its target DNA induces significant bend DNA, characteristic proteins. Circular dichroism spectroscopy specific...

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is an emerging condition where patients commonly present with symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and fail to respond adequately anti-reflux therapy. Food allergy currently recognized as the main immunological cause EE; recent evidence suggests etiological role for inhalant allergens. The presence EE appears be associated other atopic illnesses. To report sensitization profile both food allergens in our patient cohort relation age, prevalence allergic...

Fecal soiling is a challenging problem in some children after pull-through surgery for Hirschsprung disease (HSCR). The prevailing perception that results from overflow incontinence; however, its treatment with laxatives yields mixed results. Colonic manometry studies are reported to be normal most patients this population. interpretation of these findings does not support the physiology fecal incontinence children. aim present study was define underlying daily, frequent HSCR using...

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the dental health children with gastro‐esophageal reflux disease (GERD) a healthy control group. Methods: Dental examinations were conducted for 52 (31 boys and 21 girls) definitive history GERD. For every subject enrolled in study, sibling without condition recruited. Medical histories obtained from medical records, dietary parents. teeth examined erosion, caries, enamel hypoplasia, sampled Streptococcus mutans. Results: prevalence erosion by...

A proportion of human breast cancers result from an inherited predisposition to the disease. Mutations in BRCA2 gene confer a high risk cancer and are responsible for almost half these cases. The recent cloning has revealed that it encodes large protein having little significant homology known proteins. Here we describe mouse Brca2 gene. maps chromosome 5, consistent with its location on 13q12. We have sequenced cDNA entire 3329 amino acid this that, like Brca1, is relatively poorly...

There are no objective ambulatory studies on the temporal relationship between reflux and cough in children. Commercial pHmetry loggers have slow capture rates (0.25 Hz) that limit quantification of cough. The authors aimed to evaluate if there is a association acid pH children with chronic cough. The studied (aged <14 years) cough, suspected considered for using specifically built pHmetry-cough logger enabled simultaneous recording fast (10 rate.Coughs within (before after) 10, 30, 60 120 s...

Solid-state (SS) manometry catheters with portable data loggers offer many potential advantages over traditional water-perfused (WP) systems, such as prolonged recordings in a more physiologic ambulatory setting and the lack of risk for water overload. The use SS has not been evaluated comparison perfused children. This study aims to compare provided by WP children undergoing colonic studies. A catheter were taped together that their corresponding sensors at same location. Simultaneous...

Intestinal lymphangiectasia is a well-recognized complication of the Fontan procedure, occurring in up to 24% patients. Because loss chylous fluid into gut lumen, protein-losing enteropathy results as well lymphopenia and hypogammaglobulinaemia. In some cases, dilated lymphatics intestinal serosa or mesentery also rupture, causing ascites. Standard medical cardiac surgical interventions are generally ineffective condition frequently lethal. Clinical results of bone mineral density for children with inflammatory bowel disease are commonly reported using reference data chronological age. It is known that these children, particularly those Crohn disease, experience delayed growth and maturation. Therefore, it more appropriate to compare clinical age rather than age.Areal (aBMD) was measured dual energy x-ray absorptiometry, assessed the Tanner-Whitehouse 3 method from a standard hand/wrist radiograph.
