The TNM classification (tumor-node-metastasis) was adopted by the American Joint Committee on Cancer and International Union against a decade ago to avoid heterogeneity of prognostic schemes used for differentiated thyroid cancers. To date, however, clinical data based this are lacking. We retrospectively evaluate prognosis 700 patients (208 men 492 women) with papillary (89%) follicular (11%) cancers according pathological (pTNM) staging system, treated over 25-yr period (1970–1995)....

Both the association between lymphocytic thyroiditis (LT) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), prognostic significance of infiltrate in patients with malignancy, remain controversial. We examine above relationships by retrospectively reviewing our series treated for differentiated nonmedullary at University California-San Francisco over a 25-yr period (1970-1995). Of 631 complete data analysis, 128 (20.3%) showed concomitant histologic evidence LT 503 (79.7%) had no LT. Prognostic outcome...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) images of live rats with sterile and pyogenic abscesses, hematomas, various implanted spontaneous neoplasms demonstrated good contrast differentiation between pathologic surrounding normal tissues. This was maximal when both the T1 T2 tissue relaxation times were used as criteria. Neoplasms have a broad range values may be confused abscesses or hematomas. Tissue rate constants (1/T1 1/T2) are mainly dependent on total water content, exception being fat, which...

In general, the sequences of radiofrequency and magnetic field gradients used to form nuclear resonance images are designed for a stationary object. Consequently, these produce different response when applied moving blood. These changes in signal permit visualization vessels can be measure their open area. addition, specific relaxation time signatures lesions may help identifying nature obstructions.

We retrospectively reviewed the cytology and immunohistology of vitreous specimens from nine patients with intraocular lymphoma (ocular reticulum cell sarcoma). A single biopsy specimen was not always adequate to establish diagnosis in this condition. Cytological evaluation more accurate than lymphocyte surface marker analysis differentiate uveitis. The immunological features these tumours indicate a heterogeneous group lymphomas.
