The advent of the smart grid promises to usher in an era that will bring intelligence, efficiency, and optimality power grid. Most these changes occur as Internet-like communications network is superimposed on top current using wireless mesh technologies with 802.15.4, 802.11, WiMAX standards. Each expose cybersecurity threats. In order address this issue, work proposes a distributed intrusion detection system for grids (SGDIDS) by developing deploying intelligent module, analyzing module...

Over the last 15 years, significant changes have occurred in areas of electric power systems and high performance computing (HPC). HPC has seen maturation cluster computing, advent multi-core creation grid cloud sudden rise graphics processing unit (GPU) for general purpose computing. These also been coupled with slow ending Moore's law. Electric undergone many including introduction advanced metering infrastructure other technologies data collection, inclusion renewable/distributed...

The idea of Internet Things (IoT) is implanting networked heterogeneous detectors into our daily life. It opens extra channels for information submission and remote control to physical world. A significant feature an IoT network that it collects data from edges. Moreover, human involvement devices maintenance greatly reduced, which suggests need be highly self-managed self-secured. For the reason use growing in many important fields, security issues properly addressed. Among all, Distributed...

Abstract The Southern Ocean plays a critical role in the global climate system by mediating atmosphere–ocean partitioning of heat and carbon dioxide. However, Earth models are demonstrably deficient Ocean, leading to large uncertainties future air–sea CO2 flux projections under warming incomplete interpretations natural variability on interannual geologic time scales. Here, we describe recent aircraft observational campaign, O2/N2 Ratio Airborne (ORCAS) study, which collected measurements...

In this article, Thomas Pettigrew and Robert Green closely examine sociologist James S. Coleman's research public statements on the relationship between school desegregation white enrollment. Describing their own study other studies whose findings diverge from Coleman's, they contend that is methodologically conceptually faulty it provides no basis for his highly publicized conclusion urban leads to massive"white flight." Rather, argue, others' tends support metropolitan solutions...

Emerging pollutants inherent in reclaimed municipal wastewater, including endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs) and pharmaceutical personal care products (PPCPs), often have cast uncertainties on the safety of water reuse. We examined fate transport behavior several PPCP EDC through observations made at experimental turf fields irrigated with naproxen, clofibric acid, diclofenac sodium, ibuprofen, estrone, 4-tert-octylphenol, bisphenol A, 4-n-nonylphenol, triclosan latent irrigation water....

Understanding, prioritizing, and mitigating methane (CH4) emissions requires quantifying budgets from facility scales to regional with the ability differentiate between source sectors. We deployed a tiered observing system for multiple basins in United States (San Joaquin Valley, Uintah, Denver-Julesberg, Permian, Marcellus). quantify strong point (>10 kg CH4 h-1) using airborne high spatial resolution imaging spectrometers, then attribute them sectors, assess their intermittency...

Background/Objectives: Kidney transplantation (KT) is the preferred treatment for end-stage renal disease (ESRD), offering improved quality of life, superior survival rates and lower economic burden. However, improving long-term kidney allograft post remains a significant challenge. HLA eplet matching has emerged as promising strategy to minimize immunological risk enhance graft survival. Still, our understanding immunogenicity limited. This study aims evaluate if Electrostatic mismatch...

Methods have previously been developed that improve the computational efficiency and convergence of Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) when computing reliability indices power systems. One these techniques works by pruning state space in such a manner MCS samples has higher density failure states than original space. HLA matching improves long-term outcomes of kidney transplantation, yet implementation challenges persist, particularly within the African American (Black) patient demographic due to donor scarcity. Consequently, survival rates among Black patients significantly lag behind those other racial groups.
