Purpose: Most speech-language pathologists (SLPs) working with children developmental language disorder (DLD) do not perform sample analysis (LSA) on a regular basis, although they regard LSA as highly informative for goal setting and evaluating grammatical therapy. The primary aim of this study was to identify facilitators, barriers, needs related performing by Dutch SLPs DLD. secondary investigate whether training would change the actual performance LSA. Children with speech sound disorders (SSD) are at higher risk of communication breakdown, but the impact having an SSD may vary from child to child. Determining severity helps speech-language therapists (SLTs) recognise extent problem and identify prioritise children who require intervention. This study aimed factors for in order develop a multifactorial Speech Sound Disorder Severity Construct (SSDSC) using SLTs' views International Classification Functioning, Disability Health (ICF). It has been proposed that poor non‐word repetition is a marker of specific language impairment (SLI), and precursor dyslexia. This study investigated whether deficit underlies both disorders. A group Dutch preschool SLI children at familial risk dyslexia, as well school‐going groups dyslexic were presented with task. The results showed the (at‐risk of) dyslexia performed more poorly than control children. Furthermore, exception one child, all scored significantly below mean group, suggesting...

We report on a prospective longitudinal research programme exploring the connection between language acquisition deficits and dyslexia. The development profile of children at-risk for dyslexia is compared to that age-matched controls as well who have been diagnosed with specific impairment (SLI). experiments described concern perception production grammatical morphology, categorical speech sounds, phonological processing (non-word repetition), mispronunciation detection, rhyme detection....

The present study examined the long-term consequences of otitis media (OM) on speech perception abilities in noise. 55 children with a prospective 3-monthly documented middle-ear status and hearing loss between birth 24 months completed ‘speech-in-noise’ (SPiN) test at age 7 years. Both cumulation uni- bilateral OM incidents early life were significantly correlated to performance SPiN school age. Other background factors such as socio-economic status, language cognitive development did not...

This study related the non-word repetition (NWR) abilities of 4-year-old children at-risk dyslexia and with specific language impairment (SLI) to their reading at age eight. The results show that SLI group obtained lowest NWR score performed in-between control group. Approximately half showed difficulties. Literacy were correlated for group, but not findings point toward differences between groups suggest should be treated as a similar disorder.
