Plant biosecurity is increasingly challenged by emerging crop pests. The spider mite Tetranychus evansi has recently emerged as a new threat to solanaceous crops in Africa and the Mediterranean basin, with invasions characterized high reproductive output an ability withstand wide range of temperatures. Mitochondrial (868 bp COI) nuclear (1,137 ITS) loci were analyzed T. samples spanning current geographical distribution study earliest stages invasive process. two sets markers separate into...

The spider mite Tetranychus evansi is an emerging pest of solanaceous crops worldwide. Like many other pests, its small size, confusing taxonomy, complex history associations with humans, and propensity to start new populations from inocula, make the study invasion biology difficult. Here, we use recent developments in Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) variation multi-locus genetic markers reconstruct historical demography this cryptic invasive pest. By distinguishing among multiple...

ABSTRACT Using a combination of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (COI) and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence information, cross-breeding, morphological criteria, taxonomic status Tetranychus takafujii was reassessed. Described from Japan very close to evansi, only male empodium II separated two species. Six T. evansi samples collected in Brazil, France, Kenya, Spain (including Canary Islands), Taiwan, previously species-identified as takafujii, were examined. DNA sequences...

The tomato red spider mite, Tetranychus evansi Baker and Pritchard, has emerged as a destructive invasive pest of solanaceous crops worldwide. It was first recorded in Syria 2011, Latakia governorate, the coastal region. Successful management T. given region benefits from information about its distribution, host plants, associated natural enemies. Therefore, we investigated, 2019 2020, status on plants Syrian region, an important producer crops. A total 237 samples were collected at 187...

This paper reports ten tetranychid mites species on several cultivated and uncultivated plants in Latakia governorate (Syria) 2011-2012. Three belong to the subfamily Bryobiinae genera Aplonobia, Bryobia Petrobia, while seven Tetranychinae Eotetranychus, Eutetranychus, Panonychus Tetranychus. Nine of mite identified this study are reported for first time from Syria, one had already been previously reported. gives information concerning locations, host distribution each collected species.

During survey conducted 2019, the ladybird beetle, Stethorus gilvifrons (Mulsant) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) and acarivorous gall midge, Feltiella acarisuga (Vallot) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) were identified association with T. colonies on black nightshade from 12 sites Latakia.
