The aim of this research was to determine the sun protection factor (SPF) sunscreens emulsions containing chemical and physical by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. Ten different commercially available samples sunscreen various manufactures were evaluated. SPF labeled values in range 8 30. 30% analyzed are close agreement with SPF, presented above amount 40% under amount. proposed spectrophotometric method is simple rapid for vitro determination emulsions.
Tumour‐associated tissue eosinophilia as a prognostic factor in oral squamous cell carcinomas Aims: has been described many sites, including head and neck. The mechanism of eosinophil recruitment its role tumours not yet defined, presence related to favourable well unfavourable prognosis. aim this study was evaluate the influence tumour‐associated on prognosis 125 carcinoma patients. Methods results: number eosinophils obtained by morphometric analysis ranged from 0 392 per mm 2 . classified...
Myiasis, a condition stemming from the parasitic infestation of Diptera fly larvae, constitutes complication for cancer patients, particularly those with malignant skin wounds. The factors that contribute to myiasis include old age, inadequate hygiene, poor living conditions, vascular disease, and diabetes. Cases in neoplastic wounds head neck region are rare guidelines or recommendations regarding best treatment approach remain lacking. Herein, we describe case developed into an extensive...
ABSTRACT Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is still being late diagnosed in Brazilian population, which implies worst survival rates. The present clinical case aimed to report a 64-year-old female patient that was referred the university with main complain of lump on tongue. During anamnesis, she did not addictions, such as smoking or drinking. Extra-oral physical examination revealed an increase and stiffening submandibular lymph nodes. Intraorally, it could be observed extensive...
Chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis is a frequent therapeutic challenge in cancer patients. The purpose of this retrospective study was to estimate the prevalence and risk factors 169 acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) patients treated according different chemotherapeutic trials at Darcy Vargas Children's Hospital from 1994 2005. Demographic data, clinical history, treatment patients' follow-up were recorded. association with age, gender, leucocyte counts diagnosis assessed by chi-squared...
This study investigated if tumor-associated tissue eosinophilia (TATE) could be associated with the process of invasion in oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs) and its influence on patient's prognosis. Forty-three patients treated for OSCCs or without lymph nodes involvement, at A. C. Camargo Cancer Hospital, Brazil, were selected TATE analysis. Two degrees established OSCC: absent/mild intense. The was evaluated relation to clinicopathological features prognostic value using χ 2 test...
Moesin is a member of the ERM (ezrin, radixin and moesin) proteins that participate in cell migration tumor invasion through transductional signals sent to actin filaments by glycoproteins, such as podoplanin. This study aimed evaluate participation moesin podoplanin invasive front oral squamous carcinomas, their influence on patients' prognosis. Podoplanin immunoexpressions were evaluated semi-quantitative score method, based capture 10 microscopic fields, at 400X magnification, carcinomas....
Verruciform xanthoma represents a reactive lesion, common in the skin and somewhat rare mouth.Cases description: Two cases of verrucous white plaques, located on tongue floor mouth different 30-yearsold man woman clinically diagnosed as leukoplakia, are described. The histopathological analyses confirmed diagnosis oral verruciform xanthomas for both lesions.Practical implications: Despite uncommon cavity, xanthoma, particularly when affecting regions with higher risk developing cancer, should...
Aim: Eotaxin is a powerful and selective eosinophil chemoattractant. The purpose of this study was to compare the expression eotaxin in oral squamous cell carcinomas with without tumour associated tissue eosinophilia (TATE). mechanisms that control recruitment eosinophils these tumours are not clearly established. Methods: A total 60 patients (OSCC) TNM stages II III, located tongue, floor, retromolar area inferior gingiva were divided two groups: 1 – OSCC intense eosinophilic inflammatory...
