Abstract Federal government research grants provide limited funding to plastic surgeon-scientists, with reconstructive taking precedence over aesthetic research. The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that seeks support innovative, diverse endeavors within surgery. A total of 130 ASERF-funded studies 32 non-funded applications from 1992 2022 were reviewed. Kruskal Wallis, Fisher's exact, chi-squared tests utilized assess the...

Abstract Goals/Purpose The imperative for precision in aesthetic surgery necessitates a robust framework evaluating the impact of facial interventions on perceived age. Our study introduces cutting-edge AI model aimed at discerning an individual's age from characteristics. This tool is designed to augment assessment various plastic procedures, facilitating tailoring each patient's unique aging pattern. Methods/Technique We harnessed deep convolutional neural network (DCNN), pre-trained...

We describe an effective suture technique to control the persistent subannular bleeding at aortoventricular curtain in four patients with aortic stenosis and small annulus who underwent root enlargement patch reconstruction. This approximates left atrial roof without need for re-replacement of prosthesis or revision patch. Reintervention root, valve, residual aorta was not required.

Abstract Goals/Purpose Patients with adjuvant radiotherapy are significantly more likely to have complications such as infections and wound dehiscence following breast surgery.1 Closed incision negative pressure therapy (cINPT) holds edges together, prevents external contamination removes exudate, promoting tensile strength increased collagen recruitment at the site compared standard of care dressings.2 cINPT is helpful in surgical closures on high-risk patients.3 We evaluated complication...

The conventional method for the axillary artery insertion of Impella 5.0 is a nontunneling route side-graft. We present an alternative technique in order to facilitate device and ensure protection from potential wound contamination. consists exiting graft separately away main incision with intact skin subcutaneous fat between two sites. By proper isolation wound, risk infection can thus be largely mitigated. Furthermore, this allows better landing entry angle insertion; resulting smoother...
