A bright combination: a new type of donor-acceptor dyad, carbazolylaryl-substituted ortho-carboranes, which are conveniently prepared from the corresponding acetylenes and decaborane pathways, showed unique excited-state behavior associated with electron transfer unlike meta- para-counterparts.
Hoop-shaped π-conjugated molecules such as cycloparaphenylene (CPP) have attracted the attention of many chemists because they exhibit interesting properties due to distorted π-electron system. To gain a systematic understanding that result from systems, it is important know precisely how these depend on hoop size. In present study, we investigated size dependence fluorescence CPPs. The spectra smaller CPPs showed red-shifted peaks, quantum yields, and longer lifetimes, when compared those...
We have explored the electronic natures of representative expanded porphyrins, [26]- and [28]hexaphyrins, to investigate interplay between aromaticity antiaromaticity that is brought by two electron oxidation/reduction processes. The excited singlet triplet states [26]hexaphyrin in solution exhibit lifetimes 125 ps 1.8 μs, respectively, as revealed various time-resolved spectroscopic measurements. On other hand, [28]hexaphyrin shows faster than those [26]hexaphyrin, which largely accordance...

Electron donor-acceptor (D-A) systems with a triphenylamino moiety (D) and ortho-carborane (A) show three kinds of intriguing emissions that can be attributed to the local excited state, intramolecular charge-transfer aggregation-induced emission state. The behaviors depend on which positions carborane are substituted.
Carborane-based donor-π-acceptor triads (D-π-A-π-D) bearing triarylamine moieties were synthesised. All the monomeric showed a blue-green emission in dilute solution, which was assigned as an intramolecular charge-transfer (CT) emission. The CT large Stokes shifts at higher solvent polarity. further shifted to longer wavelength with increase π-conjugation. Interestingly, strong red observed highly concentrated solutions or solid state, aggregation-induced (AIE). Moreover, AIE strongly...
1,8-Naphtalimdes showed aggregation induced emission in both extremely polar or nonpolar solvents, which is attributed to the intermolecular-excimer and intramolecular-exciplex formation.
