A comparative study of two types spray sprinklers was performed. Rotating plate (RSPSs) and fixed (FSPSs) were evaluated individually in open field conditions. The water distribution, wind drift, evaporation losses during the evaluations measured under low, medium, high speed conditions with three nozzle diameters heights above soil surface. Individual sprinkler distributions mathematically overlapped to simulate distribution resulting from machines. RSPS had a conical shape, whereas FSPS...

This article analyses the effects of irrigation modernization processes on water quantity and quality, taking Ebro river basin (NE Spain) as a case study. The objective is to contribute needed in-depth analysis discussion regarding optimization use in agriculture. A conceptual approach based accounting concepts has been applied. Results show that linked an increase land productivity involves additional depletion if location irrigated areas quality return flows allow their re-use....

The effect of reduced corn evapotranspiration (ET) during solid-set sprinkler irrigation on application efficiency was analyzed two subplots. During each event, one subplot irrigated (moist treatment) while the other not (dry treatment). ET (weighing lysimeter) and transpiration (heat balance method) rates were determined at before, during, after irrigations. daytime irrigations, there a significant decrease in (32–55%) (58%) for moist treatment. After irrigations (1–2h), significantly...

Irrigation modernization has been analyzed in the part of Aragón region within Ebro River Basin, northeastern Spain. A geodatabase was built with 1144 irrigation cartographical units (ICUs) adding up to 476 k ha access water and equipped on-farm hardware. ICUs were classified eight categories related modernization. The classification revealed that past two decades an integral achieved 103 ha. In a second modernization, 13 transformed reduce their dependence on grid energy. third type...

The colonization of pressurized irrigation networks by zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) poses a serious risk to water delivery, reducing pipeline capacity and potentially causing complete blockages. Despite the critical need for early detection effective management, existing methods often rely on costly, time-consuming field inspections or indirect indicators with limited accuracy. To address this gap, we present SIMZEBRA, cloud-based toolkit that assesses invasions using hydraulic...

Overland flow of water over a porous bed in two spatial dimensions is governed by three partial differential equations accounting for continuity momentum the x‐ and y‐directions mass. A leapfrog explicit finite‐difference numerical scheme was applied to solve this system initial boundary conditions that characterize level‐basin irrigation. The procedure stable robust different applications, can accommodate inflow configurations: line, corner, fan. These configurations simulate from an...

The evolution of water governance and societal perception in large, public irrigation systems developing countries has triggered successive waves reforms since the 1980s. Among them are Participatory Irrigation Management, Management Transfer, Public-Private Partnerships or Market Instruments. Reforms have generalized implementation Water Users Associations (WUAs) continuous interaction with a Agency. This paper set out to review recurrent problems reported solutions irrigated areas relate...

The last five decades have seen strong developments in irrigation modeling. In solid-set sprinkler irrigation, models generally been applied to a few sprinklers regular arrangement, making them representative of sector or field. this research, the Ador-Solid-Set model for whole-field is presented, validated and simulate an event two fields: CA (10.2 ha) ZA (24.5 ha), equipped with 12 26 sectors, respectively. couples pipeline hydraulics (EPANET), ballistics scheduling at execution time....
