Abstract Though there is empirical support for the relation between parents' mental state talk to children and children's social understanding, including false belief understanding (FBU) emotion (EU), effect sizes range widely. The current meta‐analysis focused on moderators of this relation: content (e.g., cognitive vs. talk), quality appropriate inappropriate), context book reminiscing). Data from 22 studies examining FBU 18 EU were examined. Participants included 2,298 (<7 years)....
This report examines 174 young children's language outcomes in the Bucharest Early Intervention Project, first randomized trial of foster placement after institutional care. Age was highly correlated with outcomes. Placement by 15 months led to similar expressive and receptive test scores as typical age peers at 30 42 months. from 24 also dramatic improvement. In contrast, children placed had same severe delays Language samples confirmed that lower skill.
The current study investigated the ability of typically developing children in Grades 3 and 5 to use morphological analysis determine meanings derived words with without context clues. Also interest was relation between children's reading practices their performance determining words.Children provided definitions for 20 low-frequency that were presented them isolation context. Responses scored on a scale 0 based Dynamic Assessment Morphological Analysis--Modified (DATMA-M), which created by...

Purpose There is currently a very limited scope of research in the field speech-language pathology on sibling involvement treatment children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Principles family systems theory (FST) recognize interrelatedness and dynamic nature unit, making it relevant useful guiding framework for future practice intervention. Method In this article, core principles FST are reviewed, followed by state related to relationships ASD, roles typically developing siblings ASD...
In two studies, the reason that infants in a novel situation look to adults was assessed. Study 1, 10‐ and 13‐month‐old encountered visual cliff deep (56 cm) or ambiguous (20 cm). Infants crossed reliably faster than cliff, first looks mother of condition were longer those condition. 2, on an tested either which looking at (face plus voice) away from (voice only) while encouraging cross. In this study we explored the relation between private speech and task mastery by using microgenetic method to examine language performance of 13 children aged 4 5 as they gained expertise with a spatial, multi-step planning across 6 sessions. Seven children’s performances these sessions were characterized sharp change in two consecutive Detailed examinations individual suggested that abrupt improvements associated higher use on-task speech. More variability was noted problem-solving...
In this exploratory study, two music therapy (MT) and speech-language pathology (SLP) students facilitated a one-week inclusive camp for 10 school-age children (five with autism spectrum disorder) the mentorship guidance of faculty directors (one MT one SLP).
