Background: Dietary supplements (DSs) are widely used to complement diets, particularly among individuals with specific nutritional needs. While DSs can promote health and prevent disease, improper use may lead adverse effects or medication interactions, highlighting the need for safe, informed consumption. This study assesses knowledge, attitudes, practices (KAP) related in Western Saudi Arabia, providing insights into national consumption patterns. Method: A cross-sectional online survey...
Epidemiological studies on the heavy and toxic metal content in human blood hair of some smokers from Saudi Arabia were carried out by modern analytical techniques. The levels selected metals (e.g.; Hg, Pb, Cd, As, Se, Mn, Zn, Ni, Cr) determined using inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES). Prior to analysis, samples collected, treated, digested microwave digestion system. number cigarettes per day as well smoking period was taken consideration this study. tested...
Abstract Two new chelating polymeric hydrogels, crosslinked polyacrylamide/triethylenetetraamine/CS 2 Na (hydrogel I) and polyacrylamide/diethylenetriamine/CS II), were prepared by the transamidation dithiocarbamylation of polyacrylamide. The products characterized with elemental analysis IR spectroscopy. In both optimum pH for removal Cd(II), Pb(II), Zn(II) ions ranged from 7 to 8, 6 7, respectively. sorption isotherms investigated metal on hydrogels developed, equilibrium data fitted...
A resin of [5‐((E)‐1‐(ethylimino) ethyl)‐4, 7‐dimethoxy benzofuran‐6‐ol] Schiff base (EEDB) was prepared, characterized, and successfully applied in the removal Cu (II) ions from aqueous real samples. While metal cation detected using ICP‐OES, prepared characterized by means FTIR, 1 HNMR, mass spectral data, elemental analysis. Various factors affecting uptake behavior such as pH (2–12), contact time, effect initial concentration (10–250 ppm), weight (0.1–1.5 gm) were studied. The adsorption...
A novel, simple and highly sensitive micro electrode based on carbon paste modified with haematoxylin (HCPME) was suggested for the determination of aluminum. HCPME prepared by mixing graphite powder hot paraffin oil. The surface characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM). Various experimental parameters, which influenced electrochemical behavior HCPME, were optimized. Applying cyclic voltammetric technique under optimized conditions, gave one anodic oxidation peak at + 0.77 V...
Schistosomiasis comes after malaria as the second most important fatal parasitic disease. In Saudi Arabia Schistosoma mansoni is endemic in Jazan, Bishah, Aseer, Madina, Al-Bahah and Taif. The methods used for diagnosis of schistosomiasis are complex, time-consuming, require extra instruments and/or need skillful persons; therefore, there a development sensitive easy method. this study, first time, novel screen-printed immunosensor detection S. antibodies (ABs) was developed. Soluble worm...
Abstract The modification of cross‐linked polyacrylamide (CPAAm) and incorporation methyl thiourea (MeTU) or phenyl (PhTU) group were utilized in the preparation two new chelating resins CPAAm‐EDA‐MeTU (resin I) CPAAM‐EDA‐PhTU II), [EDA=ethylenediamine]. prepared characterized by elemental analysis IR spectroscopy. sorption behaviors Cd(II), Pb(II), Zn(II) ions on studied optimum conditions for tested metal determined. pH value Cd(II) both I II was ranged between 7–8. show very little...
The anodic voltammetric behavior of amiloride hydrochloride (AmilCl) was studied at carbon paste electrode in 0.04 M Britton-Robinson buffer pH 2.96 using cyclic and differential pulse techniques. Cyclic study indicates that the oxidation process is irreversible controlled by adsorption. Parameters affecting on AmilCl are optimized. Under optimal conditions peak current proportional to concentration range 0.60-4.23 μg/ml with detection quantitation limits 0.26 0.87 AmilCl, respectively....
Preparation, characterization, and application of a novel coated graphite rod thorium selective electrode based on 8-hydroxyquinolate [thorium oxinate, Th(C9H6NO)4.2H2O] complex ionophore as sensing material, dioctylphthalate (DOP) solvent mediator, PVC matrix have been developed. The exhibits linear Nernstian response over the concentration range 5x10-6 - 1x10-1 mol l-1 Th(IV) ions, with calibration slope 15.5 ± 0.5 mV/concentration decade detection limit 1.6x10-6 l-1. It has fast time can...
ABSTRACT A new poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) electrode for Cs+ ion based on Cs‐12‐molybdophosphate (Cs‐12‐MPO) as a membrane carrier is prepared and characterized. The exhibits linear response with slope of 46.5 ± 1 mV/decade within the concentration range 1.0 × 10−5–1.0 10−1 mol L−1 ion. limit detection was 3.0 10−6 L−1. proposed shows good selectivity over wide variety other metal ions could be used in pH 4.0–6.0. It has relatively fast time less than (30 s) can at least three weeks without...
A first step towards the fabrication and electrochemical evaluation of thin-filmmicrosensors based on organic PVC membranes for determination Hg(II), Cd(II),Pb(II) Cu(II) ions in solutions has been realised. The membrane-coating mixture used inthe preparation this new type microsensors is incorporating as supporting matrix,o-nitrophenyloctylether (o-NPOE) solvent mediator a recently synthesizedHg[dimethylglyoxime(phene)]2+ Bis-(4-hydroxyacetophenone)-ethylenediamine aselectroactive materials...
