Electrospun nanofibers have been widely used as substrata for mammalian cell culture owing to their structural similarity natural extracellular matrices. Structurally consistent electrospun can be produced with synthetic polymers but require chemical modification graft cell-adhesive molecules make the functional. Development of a facile method grafting functional on will contribute production diverse type-specific nanofiber substrata. Small molecules, peptides, and functionalized gold...

We demonstrate that surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is applicable to the optical detection of neural signals. A low-noise SPR sensor was developed as a label- and artifact-free method for extracellular recording activity. The responses obtained from rat sciatic nerve were highly correlated with simultaneously recorded electrical responses. Additional studies stimulation intensity lidocaine further confirmed optically measured signals originated activities.

Various strategies for combination therapy to overcome current limitations in cancer have been actively investigated. Among them, simultaneous delivery of multiple drugs is a subject high interest due anticipated synergistic effect, but there difficulties designing and developing effective nanomaterials this purpose. In work, dual-pore coexisting hybrid porous silica nanoparticles are developed through Volmer-Weber growth pathway efficient co-delivery gene anticancer drug. Based on the...

The rapid response of a smart material surface to external stimuli is critical for application cell-based biochips. sharp and controllable phase transition elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) enabled reversible cell adhesion on the by changing temperature or salt concentration in system. First, ELP micropatterns were prepared glass modified into aldehyde. lysine-containing (ELP-K) was genetically synthesized from E. coli conjugation with aldehyde surface. monitored PBS culture media using...

Fluorescent Au nanocrystals (AuNCs)-silica hybrid nanocomposite (FLASH) was synthesized by co-condensation of surface-modified AuNCs. Present FLASH exhibited four times the enhanced photoluminescence and photocatalytic activity compared to single nanocrystals. On basis these optical features, we successfully demonstrated in vitro fluorescence bioimaging introduced human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). Two-dimensional materials have attracted great attention for their outstanding electronic properties. In particular, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) shows potential as a next-generation semiconductor due to its tunable direct bandgap with high on–off ratio and extraordinary stability. However, the performance of MoS2 synthesized by physical vapor deposition has been limited contact resistance between an electrode MoS2, which determines overall device characteristics. Here, in order reduce...
