Computational studies have led to models understand some classic and contemporary asymmetric reactions involving organocatalysts. The Hajos-Parrish-Eder-Sauer-Wiechert reaction intermolecular aldol as well Mannich oxyaminations catalyzed by proline other amino acids, Diels-Alder MacMillan's chiral amine organocatalysts been studied with density functional theory. Quantitative predictions for several new catalysts are provided.
The toxicity of phosgene (COCl2 ) combined with its extensive use as a reactant and building block in the chemical industry make fast accurate detection prerequisite. We have developed carboxylic derivative 5,6-pinenepyridine which is able to act colorimetric fluorimetric sensor for air solution. For first time, formation pyrido-[2,1-a]isoindolone was used this purpose. In solution, sensing reaction extremely (under 5 s), selective highly sensitive, limit (LOD) 9.7 nM/0.8 ppb. When fixed on...
A sol-gel process for the synthesis of a multi-component oxide material from system SiO2-ZrO2-Al2O3underwent optimization and up-scaling. Initially, on laboratory scale, components including precursors, catalysts, additives were methodically evaluated to ensure safe efficient transition larger volumes. Subsequently, equipment whole setup was strategically selected. Leveraging insights these optimizations, successfully scaled-up pilot-scale operation, conducting hydrolysis, condensation...
In this edition of the Flow Chemistry Column, we are delighted to feature an interview with Prof. Dr. Nina Hartrampf from
Flow chemistry is a growing and promising technology that can be used in research, development, production. Nowadays, properly trained staff flow lacking industry. To efficiently work with this technology, mix of engineering chemical skills required. Although, dual education well addressed the major given at Haute Ecole d’Ingénierie et d’Architecture de Fribourg, school University Applied Sciences Arts, Western Switzerland, teaching should enhanced reinforced.

A straightforward one-pot method for the synthesis of unreported pyrido-[2,1-a]isoindolones in excellent yield is described. Two novel isoindolones were synthesized and fully characterized. The alkyl substituents on pyridine play an important role outcome reaction. mechanism, investigated through DFT calculations, features unprecendented intramolecular cyclization reaction involving a carboxylic acid activated by tosyl chloride electron-poor pyridinic nitrogen. This protocol completes known...
The complexation behavior of two novel, chiral pinene–bipyridine-type ligands ((–)-HL1 and (–)-HL2) containing a carboxylic arm towards lanthanide Ln(III) (Ln = La, Eu, Lu) ions was investigated through spectroscopic methods. association constants the mononuclear complexes determined from UV-Vis titrations indicated that ligand (–)-HL1 possessing shorter formed more stable compared with (–)-HL2, whose had one methylene unit. This is due to formation seven-member metal chelate rings in first...

Two novel pinene-type ligands have been synthesized and their tautomeric self-associating behavior studied in solution the solid state. The first ligand, an acetylated derivative of 5,6-pinene-bipyridine, displays keto-enol tautomerism solution. This equilibrium was by NMR UV-Vis spectroscopy various solvents, results were compared with ones obtained through DFT calculations. second ligand unusual oxidation phenanthroline unit a pinene-phenanthroline derivative. compound exists as single...
Abstract The aim of this work was to understand if solvent contaminants can interfere in Suzuki ’s cross‐coupling reactions and it explain the lack robustness industrial processes. For purpose, several parameters were tested on model reaction between 2‐bromonaphthalene phenylboronic acid catalyzed by Pd/C. Best results obtained using THF as solvent. Traces precursors used solvents, such 2,3‐dihydrofurane or maleic anhydride (100–300 ppm related solvent) strongly poisoned reaction, decreasing...
Two experimental methods, the Nile Red dye extraction and Williamson ether synthesis in biphasic conditions, were used to characterize mixing performance of a new cheap impinging jet colliding mixer from Gjosa compare it other commercial micromixers (Caterpillar CPMM-R300, T-mixer, LTF MR-MX MR-MS). The method shows that Caterpillar is best one. Excellent results are also achieved with two mixers series. These not reflected synthesis, where
