Abstract A water suspension of nanocomposite microcapsules with embedded ZnO nanoparticles in the capsule shell is reported. The microcapsule morphology characterized by confocal microscopy, TEM, SEM, and AFM before after ultrasound treatment. remarkably high sensitivity to evidenced, it observed grow increasing number nanoparticle layers shell. This effect correlated mechanical properties measured AFM.
Fullerene flakes: A diacetylene-functionalized fullerene derivative self-organizes into flakelike microparticles (see picture). Both the diacetylene and C(60) moieties can be effectively cross-linked, which leads to supramolecular materials with remarkable resistivity solvent, heat, mechanical stress. Moreover, surface of cross-linked objects is highly durable water-repellent.
Abstract Formulation of therapeutic proteins into particulate forms is a main strategy for site‐specific and prolonged protein delivery as well protection against degradation. Precise control over particle size, dispersity, purity, mild preparation conditions minimal processing steps are highly desirable. It is, however, hard to fit all these criteria with conventional techniques. Here one‐step hard‐templating synthesis microparticles composed functional, non‐denatured reported. The method...
Fullerenes, C60, modified with long alkyl chains form long-range ordered lamellar mesophases permitting a high C60 content. The mesomorphic fullerenes feature reversible electrochemistry and comparably electron carrier mobility making them attractive components for fullerene-based soft materials.
Formation of hierarchically self-organized architectures in organic media and their non-wetting surface features a series fullerene-C60 derivatives bearing different numbers long hydrocarbon chains (1–3) semiperfluoro-alkyl tails (4) are investigated by means variety techniques, including X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, as well spectroscopic microscopic methods. All self-assemble into bilayer arrangement with fundamental structural subunit lamellar distance ranging from...
In a novel approach to the study of cell mechanics, colloidal probe AFM is combined with fluorescence microscope investigate mechanical properties and release from polymeric microcapsules correlate these data upon intracellular incorporation cell-induced stresses.
We present a novel method combining fluorescence microscopy with AFM force spectroscopy to investigate release of encapsulated materials from polyelectrolyte multilayer capsules upon mechanical deformations. The experimental approach allows independent measurement and plastic deformation thresholds. Our results reveal well defined critical load which takes place let us correlate the onset
Abstract This paper outlines the structural solutions and methodology developed for (1) industrial production of an ultra‐thin double‐curvature shell prototype, prefabricated in ultra‐high performance fiber‐reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) modules, (2) on‐site assembly structure, involving prestressing dry connections, fixing to foundations. To address different challenges, including shape, thickness leading high slenderness, use UHPFRC, small tolerances, precise indented positioning strands, a...
Dams are an integral part of the country’s economy and development. confines built over a river to store water construct reservoir that serves various purposes. It is very important have dam safety maintenance monitoring. Therefore, breach analysis becomes essential examining unforeseen repercussions posed human habitat environment by abrupt release downstream dam. Every structure needs be assessed whether or proposed for risk collapse in essence find out precise consequences would arise...
In this study we describe the first direct, real-space characterization of a novel type poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) based microballoons in aqueous environment using scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM). From oxygen K-edge near-edge absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectra taken from microballoon interiors could unambiguously distinguish between water- and air-filled particles. We also demonstrate that STXM imaging below above O (520 eV 550 eV) can provide unique information on...
Abstract Direction‐specific release induced through osmotic pressure inside giant microcapsules is realized and monitored at high low concentrations of encapsulated polymer. A clear correlation between the kinetics upon opening shell polymer concentration observed. This has been independently confirmed by via nanoindentation laser radiation. To quantify these observations, internal capsules determined analysis mechanical tests performed colloidal probe AFM. As expected, larger amounts...
We report a novel approach to model the temperature dependence of volume and elastic modulus polymer gels with cross-linking gradient based on well-known Flory-Rehner (FR) theory. The proposed consists dividing inhomogeneous gel into an arbitrary number independent homogeneous layers that are treated independently by FR approach. Experimental measurements atomic force microscopy (AFM) PNIPAM microgels, unexplained classical model, in good agreement model.
Fluid–fluid interfaces are an attractive template for engineering nanomembranes via self-assembly. Although increasing number of investigations the local (∼10−10 m2) surface mechanics a variety materials, detailed studies mechanical behavior and constitutive parameters over larger areas (>10−6 relatively scarce. This is because limitations quantitative experimental techniques due to asymmetry length scales involved. Here, we discuss fabrication characterization polysaccharide polyamino...
The seismic behaviour of precast reinforced concrete industrial structures has been extensively investigated in recent decades, especially after the damage caused by earthquakes. interaction roof's horizontal diaphragm with structural and non-structural elements can influence these buildings. Thus, present study aims to investigate this interaction, through nonlinear static dynamic analyses using a simplified macro element simulate cladding panels an equivalent truss approach roof in-plane...
Employing resonant x-ray diffraction, we observed unique pitch evolutions in the smectic-C*(alpha) phase mixtures of two antiferroelectric liquid crystals. Our results show that this continuously evolves across 4 layers, contradicting a theoretical model predicts smectic-C*(FI2) intervenes phase. The sequences found can be explained by another includes one type long-range interaction among smectic layers.
A new container composed of an inner gel core and outer protein shell has been prepared by sonicating oil in aqueous solution. Hydrophobic drugs can be loaded into the containers released thermal trigger. In this paper, we attempted to discover release mechanism means individual carrier characterization data analysis. The mechanical properties were first investigated associated with mechanism. At room temperature, was robust elastic. Plastic deformation did not happen until compressed above...
We report on the quantitative analysis of scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM) images gas-filled, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based microballoons (MB) in a water environment. A model for transmitted intensity is proposed basis perfect spherical shell stabilizing microballoon. An extension this to take into account deformation MBs also presented. Taking consideration density gradient and STXM resolution, we were able explain very precisely two types experimental profiles observed...
Fullerenes (C(60)) with attached aliphatic chains are shown to form fluid bilayer structures that distinguished by very characteristic and well-resolved X-ray diffraction patterns. Since, in addition, we vary systematically the number length of chains, detailed understanding can be achieved. To make analysis transparent, simple boxlike electronic density profile models proposed explain relative intensity several Bragg peaks present The allow characterization molecular organization. molecules...
Abstract Fulleren‐Flocken : Ein Fullerenderivat mit Diacetylen‐Funktionen ordnet sich in flockenförmigen Mikropartikeln an (siehe Bild).
