Acute respiratory distress syndrome associated with coronavirus infection is related to a cytokine storm large interleukin-6 (IL-6) release. The IL-6-receptor blocker tocilizumab may control the aberrant host immune response in patients disease 2019 (COVID-19) . In this pandemic, kidney transplant (KT) recipients are high-risk population for severe and showed poor outcomes. We present multicenter cohort study of 80 KT COVID-19 treated during hospital admission. High mortality rate was...
The aim was to analyze the characteristics and predictors of unfavorable outcomes in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) with COVID-19. We conducted a prospective observational cohort study 210 consecutive SOTRs hospitalized COVID-19 12 Spanish centers from 21 February 6 May 2020. Data pertaining demographics, chronic underlying diseases, transplantation features, clinical, therapeutics, complications were collected. primary endpoint composite intensive care unit (ICU) admission and/or...
Elevated levels of inflammatory markers have been shown to be associated with increased mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. Comorbid indexes are also helpful clinical instruments for predicting mortality. At present, it is unknown whether add predictive information death beyond that provided by comorbid indexes. This observational single-centre study included 404 patients (mean age 63+/-16 years) CKD stage 4 and 5 predialysis who were prospectively followed-up. Data obtained...
Clinical phenotypes of COVID-19, associated with mortality risk, have been identified in the general population. The present study assesses their applicability solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) hospital-admitted by COVID-19. In a cohort 488 SOTR, nonvaccinated (n = 394) and vaccinated 94) against SARS-CoV-2, we evaluated 16 demographic, clinical, analytical, radiological variables to identify clinical A, B, C. median age was 61.0 (51–69) years, 330 (67.6%) 158 (32.4%) were men women,...
Very late-onset cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease after solid organ transplantation is not associated with classic risk factors; therefore, it does follow a pattern of predictable appearance. A high index suspicion necessary to make an accurate diagnosis. Anemia has multiple etiologies among kidney transplanted recipients, and CMV could be one them. We report the case recipient anemia refractory treatment which proved secondary extremely late digestive disease.
Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is associated with a high mortality rate in kidney-transplant recipients. Azole-resistance increasing Aspergillus fumigatus. We report clinical case of recipient cerebellar and pulmonary caused by azole-resistant parafelis (molecular identification through β-tubulin sequence). The patient experienced an effective resolution after three surgical procedures antifungal therapy. This highlights that should be considered every IA as long susceptibility testing results...
SARS CoV2 infection has had a major impact on renal transplant patients with high mortality in the first months of pandemic. Intentional reduction immunosuppressive therapy been postulated as one cornerstone management absence targeted antiviral treatment. This modified according to patient`s clinical situation and its effect function or anti-HLA antibodies medium term not evaluated.

disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate effect HD on total homocysteine (Hcy), cysteine (Cys), DD level, GSHe and Gpx-3 activity. Methods: Twenty one bicarbonate-buffered Pts (9 male) aged 52.1 ± 3.1 years entered study.Hcy, Cys, (total concentrations by HPLC); (Vidas System); (Randox); urea; creatinine albumin were measured before after a single regular 4-h session performed through permanent arterio-venous fistula. Results: decreased Hcy (22.8 1.1 18.6 μmol/L p< 0.001) Cys...
