Memory T cells maintain their numbers for long periods after antigen exposure. Here we show that CD8 + of memory phenotype divide slowly in animals. This division requires interleukin-15 and is markedly increased by inhibition interleukin-2 (IL-2). Therefore, the animals are controlled a balance between IL-15 IL-2.

Primary infection with varicella-zoster virus (VZV) causes the characteristic syndrome of varicella, or chickenpox. Experiments in severe combined immunodeficiency mice human skin grafts (SCIDhu mice) indicate that VZV T cells can mediate transfer infectious to skin. VZV-infected reached epithelial sites replication within 24 h after entering circulation. Memory CD4+ were predominant population recovered from SCIDhu given uninfected infected mononuclear cells, suggesting immune surveillance...

ABSTRACT Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is an alphaherpesvirus with the characteristic neurotropism of this group, but VZV also infects T cells productively and downregulates major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I expression on infected cells, as shown in SCID-hu mouse model. T-cell tropism likely to be critical for cell-associated viremia associated primary infection. In these experiments, we found that human tonsillar CD4 + culture, 15 25% being positive proteins detected by...

Our earlier studies had suggested that endonuclease G (EndoG), a member of the evolutionarily conserved DNA/RNA nonspecific betabetaalpha-Me-finger nuclease family, functioned in sequence-mediated segment inversion observed during herpes simplex virus 1 replication.
