Penciclovir (PCV) and acyclovir are acyclic guanine analogs which inhibit herpes simplex virus (HSV) DNA polymerase. Their 50% infective doses were 0.5 to 0.8 microgram/ml for clinical isolates of HSV-1 1.3 2.2 micrograms/ml HSV-2. Furthermore, HSV-infected cultures receiving 2-h pulses PCV had 2- 50-fold less HSV than acyclovir-treated cultures, consistent with the prolonged intracellular half-life triphosphate.
X-ray-based position verification of the target volume in image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is currently performed on solid fiducial markers that are implanted under endoscopic ultrasonography. A new biodegradable liquid marker has recently been introduced. To assess its potential use for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided photon or proton radiotherapy PDAC, MRI visibility and artifacts this were quantified compared against gold...
Abstract Background and purpose Abdominal organ motion seriously compromises the targeting accuracy for particle therapy in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. This study compares three different abdominal corsets regarding their ability to reduce potential usability therapy. Materials methods A patient‐individualized polyurethane (PU), a semi‐individualized polyethylene (PE), three‐dimensional‐scan based (3D‐PE) corset were manufactured one healthy volunteer. Time‐resolved volumetric...
Motion mitigation is of crucial importance in particle therapy (PT) patients with abdominal tumors to ensure high-precision irradiation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) an excellent modality for target volume delineation and motion estimation mobile soft-tissue tumors. Thus, the aims this study were develop MRI- PT-compatible compression device, investigate its effect on pancreas reduction, evaluate patient tolerability acceptance. In a prospective clinical study, 16 received individualized...
The compounds of an aqueous root extract the African medicinal plant Pelargonium sidoides were analysed by LC-MS spectroscopy and antiviral effect this against herpes simplex virus was examined in cell culture. Besides predominant coumarins, simple phenolic structures as well flavonoid catechin derivatives identified major constituents extract. inhibitory activity type 1 (HSV-1) 2 (HSV-2) tested vitro on RC-37 cells using a plaque reduction assay exhibited high both herpesviruses viral...
Purpose Systems for integrated magnetic resonance guided radiation therapy (MRgRT) provide real‐time and online MRI guidance unequaled targeting performance of moving tumors organs at risk. The clinical introduction such systems requires dedicated methods commissioning routine machine quality assurance (QA). aim the study was to develop a protocol method automatic quantification target motion geometric accuracy using 4D phantom. Materials performed on clinically used 3 T MR scanner. phantom...
