This study aims to enhance sustainable disease management in black gram by identifying varieties resistant Mungbean Yellow Mosaic India Virus (MYMIV). We screened sixteen genotypes, assessing physiological, biochemical and enzymatic basis. Results revealed a range of resistance levels, with PANT URD-19 showing the highest (PDI 0.47%) Pejua lowest 37.24%). Seven genotypes demonstrated strong resistance, highlighting necessity for targeted breeding. Variations leaf thickness, trichome density,...
Bemisia tabaci (whitefly) is one of the most detrimental agricultural insect pests and vectors many plant viruses distributed worldwide. Knowledge distribution patterns insecticide resistance this cryptic species crucial for its management. In study, genetic variation mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (MtCoI) gene B. was analyzed followed by a study infection profile various endosymbionts in 26 whitefly populations collected from West Bengal, India. Phylogenetic analysis revealed...
Abstract Background The invasive and calamitous polyphagous pest Spodoptera frugiperda or commonly known as fall armyworm (FAW) poses serious menace to the global agricultural production. Owing revamped invasion of FAW in 2018 India, present study was undertaken for precise assessment its genetic identity pesticide resistance aid pest-management strategies. Results To evaluate diversity population across Eastern mitochondrial COI sequences were used which revealed a low nucleotide diversity....
The sweet potato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius), is one of the several species complexes whitefly that are currently significant agricultural pests. infests more than 600 plant and thrives under a wide range temperature conditions. In addition to direct damage caused by sucking sap, it vectors viruses. Heat-shock proteins play pivotal role in enabling insect extend its geographical location, survival, reproduction different stress B. harbours endosymbionts genera Portiera, Rickettsia,...
Butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea), also known as Asian pigeonwings is a perennial herbaceous plant belongs to the Fabaceae family has great source of natural food colorants and antioxidants (Suarna et al., 2021). It multipurpose forage that produces bioactive compounds, acts cover crop improves soil fertility through nitrogen fixation (Gomez al, 2003). Rhynchosia Yellow Mosaic Virus (RhYMV) which transmitted by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) was first reported from Pakistan in leguminous weed...
The silverleaf whitefly,
The whitefly, B . tabaci is a major pest of agricultural crops which transmits begomovirus in species-specific manner. Yellow vein mosaic disease (YVMD) and okra leaf curl (OLCD) caused by distinct are limitation to production India. In this framework the present investigation reports, for first time, comparative study species viz. yellow virus (YVMV) enation (OELCuV) ingested egested two cryptic (Asia I Asia II 5) at different time interval using detached assay. A gradual increase both...
Fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda a recent invasive pest in India is reported to cause significant damage by feeding voraciously on maize and other economic crops from tropical temperate provinces. It becoming an arduous challenge control the as it can survive wide range of temperature conditions already said develop resistance towards certain insecticides. The small Heat shock proteins (hereafter, sHsps) are known play important role adaptation insects under such stress conditions....

Acquisition of plant viruses is known to exert various effects on vectors’ developmental biology. Pentalonia nigronervosa the only vector banana bunchy top virus (BBTV), which an economically detrimental infecting cultivars all over world. In present study, biology viruliferous (Vr) and non-viruliferous (NVr) aphids was compared, with a marked reduction noted in lifespan upon acquisition BBTV. Among environmental parameters temperature important determinant insect’s abundance geographical...
Mango hopper (Amritodus atkinsoni Lethierry) causes devastations in the early vegetative stage of mango crop. The classical management is with systemic insecticides but their overuse has caused environmental pollution. Here, we have evaluated entomopathogenic role Clonostachys rosea through bioassay and optimized media for its large-scale culturing. current study reveals potentiality C. as on A. atkinsoni. Initially, morphological molecular characterization was used to validate local...
A study was conducted to evaluate the repellent activity of Neem oil (Azadirachta indica) against Red rust flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum) and lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica). The ethanolic concentrations at 1%, 2% 3% were tested two stored product beetles readings taken for 2 hours half an hour interval. It found that proportional concentration higher has stronger effect. Moreover effect better on T. castaneum as compared R. dominica. showed 88.31, 95.08 97.81% 1, essential...
The present investigation was conducted in summer 2018 at BCKV Teaching Farm, Mandouri, Nadia, West Bengal, to evaluate the efficacy insecticide, viz., Spinotetram 0.8% GR different doze rates against yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas and Rice leaf folder, Cnaphalocrosis medinalis infesting rice. pooled data on of treatment schedules major insect pests i.e. Stem borer Leaf folder. All treated plots provided significant reduction pest infestation along with yield increase but best...
Abstract Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV) is a whitefly-transmitted bipartite ssDNA causing worldwide havoc to the tomato production. The present study addresses first report for existence of ToLCNDV at Manipur region North East India. Sequence comparison DNA A (MG649330) and B (OM752176) genomes showed close homogeneity about 98% 100% with Bangladesh isolates, but revealed only 84–96% (DNA A) 81–100% B) similarity other isolates ToLCNDV. Phylogenetic relationship global ToLCV...
<title>Abstract</title> A major constraint in okra production is damage caused by insect pests, whitefly and jassids, which results low yield. Identification of resistant varieties a convenient eco-friendly way towards sustainable management pests attacking okra. Therefore, population dynamics the two were recorded fifteen hybrid during consecutive years 2019 2020. Significant varietal difference terms infestation with, Kajari, NOH-1684, Japani jhar, Singham Rohini being comparatively...
