The imparities of shear avalanches dynamic evolution under nanoindentation originating from the soft regions and stiff matrix were explored in a metallic glass by statistical analysis. Upon continuous indentation process, state exhibits transition chaotic behavior to self-organized critical (SOC) behavior, whereas are dominated SOC throughout process. mechanism was clarified cut-off size avalanches. These findings might advance our fundamental understanding inhomogeneous deformation on microscale.
