Abstract Practical problems of the reproduction orientation distribution function (ODF) from pole figures (PFs) using discrete methods (with special attention paid to Imhof's method,) are analysed. A new variant iteration method for determination ODF in arbitrarily defined size cells space, is suggested. The case, which centro‐symmetrical equivalency PFs induced by elements proper rotations crystal symmetry, considered.
Abstract Bacterial infection and the growth of antibiotic resistance is a serious problem that leads to patient suffering, death increased costs healthcare. To address this problem, we propose using flexible organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) as light sources for photodynamic therapy (PDT) kill bacteria. PDT involves use photosensitizer generate reactive oxygen species neighbouring cells. We have developed top-emitting OLEDs with ability tune emission peak from 669 737 nm match...
We report here a “green” approach for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in which theMentha piperitaextract was applied bioreduction chloroauric acid and stabilization formed nanostructures.
TThe need for alternative strategies to fight bacteria is evident from the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. To that respect, Photodynamic Antimicrobial ChemoTherapy steadily arises in bacterial eradication by using light, a photosensitizer and oxygen, which generates reactive oxygen species may kill bacteria. Herein, we report encapsulation 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-21H,23H-porphyrin into acetylated lignin water-dispersible nanoparticles (THPP@AcLi), with characterization...
The ADC method reported earlier by the present authors is one of direct methods for ODF approximation from pole figures. It provides very good approximations typical rolling and recrystallization textures, but, as demonstrated ghost sensitive model Matthies, it leads to weak errors textures containing a large fraction constant component. Here, an iteration procedure essentially differing previous will be presented which yields ghost‐free ODFs wide range possible textures.
Abstract We evaluate the efficacy of antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (APDT) for inactivating a variety antibiotic-resistant clinical strains from diabetic foot ulcers. Here we are focused on APDT based organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). The wound swabs ten patients diagnosed with ulcers were collected and 32 comprising 22 bacterial species obtained. isolated identified use mass spectrometry coupled protein profile database tested antibiotic susceptibility. 74% exhibited adaptive...
Bacterial resistance to serum is a key virulence factor for the development of systemic infections. The amount lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and O-antigen chain length distribution on outer membrane, predispose Salmonella escape complement-mediated killing. In enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) modal LPS can be observed. It characterized by presence distinct fractions: low molecular weight LPS, long very LPS. present work, we investigated effect composition molecules surface S. cells...
Tail tubular protein A (TTPA) is a structural tail of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteriophage KP32, and responsible for adhering the to host cells. For first time, we found that TTPA also exhibits lytic activity towards capsular exopolysaccharide (EPS) multiresistant clinical strain pneumoniae, PCM2713, thus should be regarded as dual-function macromolecule both enzymatic actions. Here, present our crystallographic studies TTPA. was crystallized X-ray diffraction data were collected resolution...
Actinobacteria are widely distributed in many environments and represent the most important trigger to occupant respiratory health. Health complaints, including hypersensitivity pneumonitis of workers, were recorded a mushroom compost facility (MCF). The studies on airborne bacteria carried out find possible microbiological source these symptoms. Culture analysis bioaerosols collected different location MCF was performed. An assessment indoor microbial exposure revealed bacterial flora...
In 2015 and 2016 Poland recorded rapid proliferation of New Delhi MBL (NDM)-producing Enterobacterales, with at least 470 1780 cases, respectively. We addressed the roles Klebsiella pneumoniae ST11 NDM-1 outbreak genotype, already spreading in 2012-14, newly imported organisms this increase. The study included 2136 NDM-positive isolates identified between April December 2016, following transfer patients K. ST147 from Tunisia to Warsaw March 2015. The were screened by PCR mapping for variants...
<i>Streptomyces coelicolor</i> A3(2) is an extensively studied model organism for the genetic studies of Streptomycetes – a genus known production vast number bioactive compounds and complex regulatory networks controlling morphological differentiation secondary metabolites production. ABSTRACT Nocardiosis is a rare disease that caused by Gram-positive actinobacteria of the Nocardia genus and affects predominantly immunocompromised patients. In its disseminated form, it has predilection for central nervous system associated with high mortality rates. Therefore, prompt identification pathogen critical. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry relatively novel technique used microorganisms. this work, an upgraded MALDI-TOF...
The implication of guanine-rich DNA sequences in biologically important roles such as telomerase dysfunction and the regulation gene expression has prompted search for structure-specific G-quadruplex agents targeted diagnostic therapeutic applications. Herein, we report on a near-infrared (NIR) two-photon poly(cationic) anthracene-based macromolecule able to selectively target G-quadruplexes (G4s) over genomic double-stranded DNA. In particular, striking changes its linear third-order...
Despite many attempts, trials, and treatment procedures, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) still ranks among the most deadly treatment-resistant types of cancer. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop new molecules, drugs, therapeutic methods against PDAC. Naturally derived compounds, such as pentacyclic terpenoids, have gained attention because their high cytotoxic activity toward cancer cells. Ursolic acid (UA), example, possesses a wide anticancer spectrum can potentially be good...
Many microbial specialized metabolites are industrially relevant agents but also serve as signaling molecules in intra-species and even inter-kingdom interactions. In the antibiotic-producing Streptomyces , members of SARP ( antibiotic regulatory proteins) family regulators often encoded within biosynthetic gene clusters their direct activators. Coelimycin is earliest, colored metabolite synthesized life cycle model organism coelicolor A3(2). Deletion its two activators cpkO cpkN abolished...
Type II thioesterases (TE IIs) were shown to maintain the efficiency of polyketide synthases (PKSs) by removing acyl residues blocking extension modules. However, substrate specificity and kinetic parameters these enzymes differ, which may have significant consequences when they are included in engineered hybrid systems for production novel compounds. Here we show that thioesterase ScoT associated with synthase Cpk from Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) is able hydrolyze acetyl, propionyl,...
