The operation principle of resonant channel add-drop filters based on degenerate symmetric and antisymmetric standing-wave modes has been described elsewhere using group theoretical arguments. In this paper, the analysis is carried out coupling in time. A possible implementation such a filter four-port system utilizing pair identical single-mode standing wave resonators. allows simple derivation constraints imposed design parameters order to establish degeneracy. Numerical simulations...
We investigate general channel drop tunneling processes using both analytic theory and first-principles simulations. These occur when two one-dimensional continuums are brought into close proximity with a resonator system that supports localized states. Propagating states can be transferred between the through system. show transport properties intricately related to symmetries of resonant Complete transfer achieved by manipulating system, forcing an accidental degeneracy different...

We describe and demonstrate sensitive room-temperature detection of terahertz (THz) radiation by nonlinearly upconverting to the near-infrared regime, relying on telecommications components. THz at 700 GHz is mixed with pump light 1550 nm in a bulk GaAs crystal generate an idler wave 1555.6 nm, which separated detected using commercial p-i-n diode. The detector operates room temperature has intrinsic THz-to-optical photon conversion efficiency 0.001%.
We extend our work to perform sensitive, room-temperature optical detection of terahertz (THz) by using nonlinear parametric upconversion. THz radiation at 700 GHz is mixed with pump light 1550 nm in a bulk GaAs crystal generate an idler wave 1555.6 nm. The separated, coupled into fiber, and detected gated Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode. resulting detector has power sensitivity 4.5 pW/Hz timing resolution 1 ns.
In an urban and uncontrolled environment, the presence of mixed traffic autonomous vehicles, classical vulnerable road users, e.g., pedestrians, unprecedented dynamic events makes it challenging for vehicle to navigate safely. Therefore, realization collaborative driving has potential improve safety efficiency. However, obvious challenge in this regard is how define, model, simulate environment that captures dynamics a complex environment. research, we first define envisioned where capture...
A specialized version of collaborative driving is convoy driving. It referred to as the practice more than one vehicle consecutively in same lane with a small inter-vehicle distance, maintaining speed. Extensive research has been conducted on convoys heavy-duty trucks highway; however, limited studied an urban environment. The complex dynamics environment require short-lived collaboration varying numbers vehicles rather collaborating over hours. motivation this investigate how can be...
Time-dependent mode-coupling theory is used to analyze a type of resonant add/drop filter based on the excitation degenerate symmetric and antisymmetric modes. Flat-top transfer functions are achieved with higher order filters that utilize multiple resonator pairs, designed satisfy degeneracy conditions. The resulting analytic expressions lead an equivalent circuit characteristics related standard L-C designs.
Environment perception plays a crucial role in enabling collaborative driving automation, which is considered to be the ground-breaking solution tackling safety, mobility, and sustainability challenges of contemporary transportation systems. Despite fact that computer vision for object undergoing an extraordinary evolution, single-vehicle systems' constrained receptive fields inherent physical occlusion make it difficult state-of-the-art techniques cope with complex real-world traffic...
Autonomous vehicles and smart roads are not new concepts the undergoing development to empower for higher levels of automation has achieved initial milestones. However, transportation industry relevant research communities still require making considerable efforts create intelligent autonomous driving.
