Abstract Background The stability of Variable Importance Measures (VIMs) based on random forest has recently received increased attention. Despite the extensive attention traditional data perturbations or parameter variations, few studies include influences coming from intrinsic randomness in generating VIMs, i.e. bagging, randomization and permutation. To address these influences, this paper we introduce a new concept which is defined as self-consistence among feature rankings repeated runs...

Methods: This study selected 106 who underwent surgery under general anesthesia at a tertiary hospital. One day before Mini Mental State Evaluation Scale (MMSE) was used to evaluate cognitive function of surgical patients. The...

Most machine-learning classifiers output label predictions for new instances without indicating how reliable the are. The applicability of these is limited in critical domains where incorrect have serious consequences, like medical diagnosis. Further, default assumption equal misclassification costs most likely violated diagnosis. In this paper, we present a modified random forest classifier which incorporated into conformal predictor scheme. A transductive learning scheme, using Kolmogorov...

Objective Chronic Fatigue (CF) still remains unclear about its etiology, pathophysiology, nomenclature and diagnostic criteria in the medical community. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) adopts a unique method, namely ‘bian zheng lun zhi’ or syndrome differentiation, to diagnose CF with set of factors, which can be regarded as Multi-Label Learning (MLL) problem machine learning literature. To obtain an effective reliable tool, we use Conformal Predictor (CP), Random Forest (RF) Problem...

Benefiting from big data, powerful computation and new algorithmic techniques, we have been witnessing the renaissance of deep learning, particularly combination natural language processing (NLP) neural networks. The advent electronic medical records (EMRs) has not only changed format but also helped users to obtain information faster. However, there are many challenges regarding researching directly using Chinese EMRs, such as low quality, huge quantity, imbalance, semi-structure...

Abstract The Drosophila genome encodes three BEN-solo proteins including Insensitive (Insv), Elba1 and Elba2 that possess activities in transcriptional repression chromatin insulation. A fourth protein—Elba3—bridges to form an ELBA complex. Here, we report comprehensive investigation of these embryos. We assess common distinct binding sites for Insv their genetic interdependencies. While generally requires the complex, Elba3 can associate with independently Elba2. further demonstrate...

Abstract Background Transfection in mammalian cells based on liposome presents great challenge for biological professionals. To protect themselves from exogenous insults, tend to manifest poor transfection efficiency. In order gain high efficiency, we have optimize several conditions of transfection, such as amount liposome, plasmid, and cell density at transfection. However, this process may be time-consuming energy-consuming. Fortunately, mathematical methods, developed the past decades,...

Abstract Epithelial tissue fusion requires coordinated molecular events at the ends of two epithelial structures. Regulatory mechanisms controlling these remain largely elusive. In Drosophila reproductive system (RS), this unites gonad and genital disc-derived tissues, into a continuous tube. This study unveils pivotal role Hamlet (Ham), PR-domain containing transcription factor, in orchestrating RS. Loss ham leads to sterility disconnection between testes (TE) seminal vesicles (SV)....
