In this study, four different plastic materials usually used in the agricultural sector (polystyrene film (PS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), low-density (LDPE) and linear (LLDPE)) were subjected to abiotic treatments, including photo-oxidation (ultraviolet e-beam radiation) thermochemical enhance polymer degradation. The extensive use of these polymers leads large amounts waste generation, small pieces, known as microplastics, which affect quality environment, soil fertility quality....

The European Union (EU) advocates for a sustainable agricultural model with reduced synthetic fertiliser use. This study compares different high-P organo-mineral pellet fertilisers (OMFs) and their effects on crop yield. A trial was conducted under controlled conditions in ryegrass (Lollium perenne L.) pots fertilisation strategies at sowing adjusted doses of P (120 kg ha−1) N (200 ha−1). Pellets were developed from compost enriched bone meal (OMF-BON), struvite (OMF-STR), monoammonium...

In this study, several composting strategies such as the use of semipermeable geotextile covers and biochar an additive were investigated to improve olive mill wastewater (OMW) biodegradability mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions during industrial-scale composting. addition, final characteristics compost obtained its marketable value also assessed. For purpose, four different co-composting mixtures prepared with OMW main ingredient, two types manure (cattle goat manure) bulking agents...

The floating system is a successful strategy for producing baby leaf vegetables. Moreover, compost from agricultural and agri-food industry wastes an alternative to peat that can be used as component of growing media in this cultivation system. In study, we experimented with three composts containing tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.), leek (Allium porrum grape (Vitis vinifera and/or olive (Olea europaea L.) mill cake residues, which were the main (75/25 volume/volume) (GM1, GM2 GM3) evaluate...

Composts of spent mushrooms substrates can be an alternative for the partial replacement peat as growing media in horticulture. Three mature composts from Agaricus bisporus (Ag), Pleurotus ostreatus (Pl), and 70% Ag:30% Pl (AgPl) production were used components media, at a 1:4 compost:peat ratio red baby leaf lettuce. They showed higher yields, between 3 7 times more than that itself, even under pressure plant pathogen Pythium irregulare. AgPl suppressiveness (50%) against irregulare Ag-...

Anaerobic digestion of agro-industrial and livestock waste generates considerable digestate volumes that are important sources nitrogen (N). However, on some occasions, the high concentrations N present in digestates may represent an obstacle to its use locally as fertilizer, since it can cause environmental impact (EC, 2000). This study analyzes efficiency gas-permeable membranes (GPM) recovery ammoniacal (NH4+) swine manure (SM, Control) three generated from anaerobic co-digestion mixtures...
