Rolling contact fatigue is a unique mode of that components under cyclic loading experience. In this work, the impact induction hardening residual stresses in rolling lifetime investigated experimentally and numerically using Dang Van multiaxial criterion. Various stress fields from are simulated finite element method mapped into classical mono-contact model. The hardened on component has been investigated, importance incorporating profile life assessments affirmed.

Abstract Induction hardening is a heat treatment that has been increasingly employed in the industry recent years. It complex, highly coupled, and multiphysical process involving electromagnetism, thermal, mechanical, metallurgical physics. One of main quality requirements hardened case depth generated workpiece. The usual method to measure ensure parts use destructive techniques, which generate material energy waste production inefficiencies. Additionally, selecting parameters such as...

This paper describes a new design methodology for long life and large size (Ll-Ls) product assembly, which has been developed modifying merging existing Design Assembly (DfA) methodologies to adapt them the particularities of this kind products. These goods are often formed by different heavy subcomponents that need be assembled commissioned on field, require use several people or special machinery, aspects not considered in traditional DfA methodologies. The methodology, through Lucas-Hull...

Laser welding has become increasingly popular in recent decades due to its high processing speed and minimal heat-affected zone, which contribute extended component lifetimes. However, the adoption of this advanced technique is often hindered by a lack skilled personnel associated with traditional limited awareness potential. This study proposes straightforward methodology for developing finite element-based thermal model laser welding, incorporating two-step experimental calibration...

Induction hardening is a heat treatment process that enhances the mechanical properties of materials, improving their resistance to fatigue, fracture, and wear. Unlike conventional methods, induction selectively heats surface material, forming high-hardness layer while leaving core relatively unaffected. In addition, it generates compressive residual stress in surface, which beneficial for component service behaviour. This progressively decreases, turning tensile at boundary hardened layer,...
