In this work, a low-cost and available material for use as permeable reactive barrier (PRB) to prevent vanadium in groundwater from leaking into river water was developed. Three modified biochars were prepared corn straw pretreated with CsCl, Zn(ii), Zr(iv) enhance ion exchange capacity (IEC) specific surface area, designated Cs-BC, Zn-BC, Zr-BC, respectively. These materials characterized via IEC, N2 adsorption-desorption, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction...

An abnormal friction law refers to the case where force does not increase monotonically with normal pressure. We investigate possibility of tribological behavior for two surfaces coated aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Detailed molecular dynamics simulations SWCNTs predict modulated variation between kinetic and applied The interacting float respect each other at about equilibrium separation van der Waals interaction, wavy contact profile breaks symmetry contacting...

Graphite is a brittle, polygranular material, which brings difficulties to the research of its fracture toughness. In present paper, an experimental work on measuring toughness graphite IG-11 described. Three-point bending tests were employed. The effects specimen size, thickness, and relative crack length a/W are studied in tests. deformation strain near tips measured by both gauge method digital speckle correlation (DSCM). results indicate that range 0.82∼1.27 MPa.m1/2, with averaged value...

Abstract When two material surfaces are brought into contact, the classical Amonton’s law predicts a monotonically increasing relation between frictional force and normal pressure. An abnormal friction refers to case where declines as pressure increases. We investigate possibility of tribological behavior for coated with aligned multiwalled nanotube rafts. Part I investigation is devoted when contacting rafts each other, while part II aimed at more general arbitrarily oriented The analysis...

In this work, we present optical R band observations of AO 0235+164 carried out during the period November 2006 to December 2012 using Ap6E CCD camera attached primary focus 70 cm meniscus telescope at Abastumani Observatory, Georgia. It shows a large variation Δ = 4.88 mag (14.19–19.07 mag) and short time scale T v 73.5 min our monitoring period. When periodicity analysis methods are applied R-band data from both historic observations, periods P 1 8.26 yr 2 0.54 found.

The graphite is porous medium, and the geometry size distribution of its structural deficiencies such as microcracks microvoids at different oxidation degrees have a great influence on overall performance. In this paper, we adopt FM-DBEM to study 3D models which contain spheroidal circular microcracks. accuracy method tested by comparison theoretical solution problem 2D microcrack microvoid interaction problem. Polyethylene matrix composites containing boron compound inclusions are mainly used for radiation shielding of nuclear power plants and space missions. The mechanical properties such as Young's modulus affected by the particle size, surface treatment method aggregation degree in composites. In order to study influence above factors on materials, a variety models were established using ABAQUS based Python pretreatment method, including single-layer interface, three-layer uniform random...
