China is experiencing significant public health challenges related to social and demographic transitions lifestyle transformations following unprecedented economic reforms four decades ago. Of particular concern the fourfold increase in overweight obesity rates nation’s youth population, coupled with low prevalence of adolescents meeting recommended levels physical activity. Improving overall China’s more than 170 million children has become a national priority. However, advancing nationwide...
To better constrain the Lhasa-Qiangtang collision, a combined palaeomagnetic and geochronological study of far western Lhasa terrane was conducted on Duoai Formation lava flows (~113-116 Ma), as well Early Cretaceous Jiega limestone. Following detailed rock magnetic, petrographical, experiments, characteristic remanent magnetisation directions were successfully isolated from most samples using principal component analysis. The tilt-corrected direction groups yielded palaeopole at 69.1°N,...
Abstract The breakup of eastern Gondwana is among the hottest topics in Earth sciences because its effect on global climate during Jurassic‐Cretaceous, influence evolution life, and importance to paleogeographic reconstruction. To better constrain Jurassic Cretaceous position Tethyan Himalaya Gondwana, a combined paleomagnetic geochronological study was performed Zhela Weimei Formations lava flows, dated at ~138–135 Ma, Luozha area Himalaya. Both positive fold reversal tests together with...
The Early Paleozoic magmatic rocks in the North Qilian Orogenic Belt provide crucial insights into deep crustal structure and tectonic evolution of Proto-Tethys Ocean. This study presents geochronological, geochemical, Lu-Hf isotopic for three representative plutons. Pandaoshi (415 Ma) Nantouhe (414 plutons are I-type granite with high SiO 2 contents (71.65-74.21 wt%, 73.09-74.24 wt%), Mg # values (38.2-44.6, 42.3-51.3), negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.54-0.71, 0.55-0.71). pluton has...
In variational data assimilation, optimal ingestion of the observational data, and use prior physical statistical information involve choice numerous weighting, smoothing, tuning parameters that control filtering merging diverse sources information. Generally these weights must be obtained from a partial imperfect understanding various errors are frequently chosen by combination historical information, reasoning, trial error. Generalized cross validation (GCV) has long been one methods for...
Abstract The precollisional paleolatitude of the Tethyan Himalaya is essential to constrain India‐Asia collision, size Greater India, and Neotethyan paleogeography. However, reliable Late Cretaceous‐Paleocene paleomagnetic datasets are still scarce because serious remagnetization. Here we report first redbed‐based results from Paleocene (60‐58 Ma) redbeds in Saga area northern Himalaya. tilt‐corrected site‐mean direction obtained 36 sites D =178.7°, I =9.5° with ɑ 95 =5.4°, corresponding a...
Abstract The timing and location India–Asia collision is crucial to understanding the evolution of Himalayan–Tibetan orogen global climate change; however, estimates size Greater India remain highly controversial. We report here first reliable early Eocene paleomagnetic results from Zhepure Formation limestone in Tethyan Himalaya (TH). Both positive fold reversal tests indicate a primary origin. tilt‐corrected site‐mean direction Ds = 332.6°, Is 20.1°, ks 90.9, α 95 2.8° ( N 30). inclination...
Abstract The precollisional locations and geometries of the Lhasa terrane (LT) are critical to constrain India‐Asia collision. However, inclinations Cretaceous paleomagnetic data obtained from northern limb folds obviously lower than those southern limb, which cause large discrepant paleolatitudes LT prior Here, we carried out a new investigation on Late Jingzhushan Formation red beds in far western LT. tilt‐corrected site mean direction yielded palaeopole at 74.4°N, 226.0°E with A 95 = 3.8°...
The subduction process of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean is still under controversy. We report zircon U-Pb ages and geochemistry (major trace elements, Hf isotopic compositions) for Xiangjiananshan granitic plutons in eastern segment East Kunlun Orogenic Belt, northern Tibetan Plateau, to constrain subduction-related granitoids its petrogenesis reconstruct prosess Buqingshan-A'nyemaqing Ocean. Zircon dating yields coeval 246.6 ± 4.1 Ma granodiorite 246.4 3.9 biotite monzogranite granitoid pluton....
The depositional environment and tectonic setting of the newly identified Ri‐Qing‐Wei Basin are focus controversy. In order to solve these questions, geochemical characteristics siltstones from Laiyang Group in Taolin area analysed detail. present similar contents SiO 2 Al O 3 compared with upper continental crust (UCC) post‐Archean Australian Shale (PAAS) classified as wacke on chemical classification plot clastic rocks. trace elements characterized by depletion transition (Sc, V, Cr, Ni,...
Abstract. The Liqiao and Xianping plutons can provide crucial evidence for the collision-orogeny process of Proto-Tethys Ocean in western section North Qinling Orogen. In this study, we present petrological, zircon U-Pb geochronological, geochemical, Lu-Hf isotopic data these plutons. Both are characterized as high-K, calc-alkaline, metaluminous to weakly peraluminous granites, with ages 429 Ma 421 Ma, respectively. pluton was classified I-type granite, displaying positive εHf(t) values...
