BackgroundHydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination therapy is often prescribed for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring warranted because both medications cause corrected QT-interval (QTc) prolongation. Whether QTc duration significantly varies during the day, potentially requiring multiple ECGs, remains to be established.MethodsWe performed 12‑lead ECGs 24-h Holter ECG in all patients aged <80 years admitted our medical unit COVID-19, oral with...

Abstract Backgrounds Patients at greatest risk of severe clinical conditions from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and death are elderly comorbid patients. Increased levels cardiac troponins identify patients with poor outcome. The present study aimed to describe the characteristics outcomes a cohort Italian inpatients, admitted medical COVID-19 Unit, investigate relative role injury on in-hospital mortality. Methods results We analyzed all consecutive laboratory-confirmed referred our...

There is paucity of data on the transfusion need and its impact overall mortality in patients with COVID-19. We explored hospitalized COVID-19 who required transfusions. Information clinical variables in-hospital were obtained from medical records 422 admitted to wards or Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In-hospital occurred 147 (34.8%) patients, 94 (63.9%) whom ICU. The median fatalities age was 77 years (IQR 14). Overall, 100 (60 males) received during hospitalization. significantly...

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major cause of death in the world. After acute-phase treatment, optimal duration anticoagulation still debatable. The latest guidelines suggest maintaining long-term patients with cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) or unprovoked VTE and low bleeding risk. Methods: MAC Project an ongoing prospective-cohort, multi-center, observational study Italy. project aims to collect real-life clinical information unselected given oral anticoagulants for over 5-year...

Extended-phase anticoagulation with direct oral Xa inhibitors (OAXI) is suggested in patients cancer-associated venous thromboembolism (CAT). We report on enrolled the MAC (Monitoring AntiCoagulants) Project, given rivaroxaban as extended-phase after CAT. The primary efficacy outcome was incidence of symptomatic recurrent VTE; safety outcomes were major and non-major clinically relevant bleeding, adverse events, all-cause mortality. mean patients' follow-up 19 months (SD 16); 64/604 (11%)...

Abstract Background SARS-CoV2 infection are frequently associated with cardiovascular manifestations, in particular symptomatic acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. However, the elevation of serum troponin seems to be non specific, a cardiologic diagnostic workup should performed. We aimed assess clinical characteristic prevalence left ventricular (LV) dyssynergy patterns cohort hospitalized non-critically ill COVID-19 patientsMethods Consecutive patients an...
