Một chuyến khảo sát đã được tiến hành vào tháng 7 năm 2014 tại 15 trạm trong vùng rạn san hô vịnh Lan Hạ - Cát Bà. Kết quả ghi nhận 210 loài động vật đáy thuộc 55 họ, 22 bộ của 3 ngành. Động thân mềm Mollusca (lớp chân bụng (Gastropoda) chiếm 114 loài, lớp hai mảnh vỏ (Bivalvia) 67 loài); da gai (Echinodennata) 27 loài; khớp (Arthropoda) 2 loài. Có 4 danh mục Sách Đỏ Việt Nam. Các ưu thế lớn như Barbatia lima, Septifer bilocularis là các có giá trị kinh tế thấp, cao lại sinh lượng rất thấp....
