Porous-type anodic oxide with re-entrant structures formed by two distinct anodizing processes suppressed the delay of boiling initiation. Even after long-term boiling, nanostructured surface maintained its structure. Moreover, cooling performance hydrofluoroether-7100 was equal to that before test.

In protoplanetary disks, the water snowline marks location where ice-rich pebbles sublimate, releasing silicate grains and vapor. These processes can trigger pile-ups of solids, making a promising site for forming planetesimals. However, previous studies exploring pile-up conditions typically employ 1D, vertically-averaged isothermal assumptions. this work, we investigate how 2D flow pattern realistic temperature structure affect at latent heat effects leave observational imprints. We...

To enhance the reliability of in-vessel retention techniques during a nuclear power plant hazard, viability seawater as coolant to flood reactor pressure vessel was investigated. Pool boiling distilled water, 3.5 wt. % artificial seawater, and 7.0 highly concentrated performed on 30-mm-diameter Cu bare surface (BS) with honeycomb porous plate (HPP). The results revealed an increase in critical heat flux (CHF) both solutions, BS, when compared water. improvement wettability by sea salt...

To improve tribological characteristics of dies for cold forging, micro valleys were formed on surface cemented tungsten carbide by shot peening. The mean period the roughness profile (RSm) peened (SP) die was approximately 1/3 times shorter that conventional mechanical polished (MP) die. distribution peaks and (Rsk) close to symmetric in SP (Rsk = 0), while it skewed toward MP < 0). lubrication performance investigated ring compression test a titanium workpiece. dominant factor friction...

Since boiling is a phenomenon with high heat transfer performance, it expected to be used in various industrial fields such as emergency cooling nuclear power plants, device for EVs and next-generation CPU data centers. So far, research on have been carried out the background of these trends. In particular, many studies conducted improve critical flux (qCHF) which limit transfer. However, since mechanism qCHF complex phenomenon, methods improvement are still unconstructed. Here we...

Several studies have proposed the use of nanofluids to enhance in-vessel retention (IVR) capability in severe accident management strategy implemented at certain light-water reactors. Systems using for IVR must be applicable large-scale systems, i.e., infinite heated surfaces. However, effect size heater with nanoparticle deposition was revealed that CHF is decreased increased size.
