There has been extensive growth in both the technical development and clinical applications of MRI, establishing this modality as one most powerful diagnostic imaging tools. However, long examination image interpretation times still limit application especially emergent settings. Rapid abbreviated MRI protocols have developed alternatives to standard with reduced times, some cases limited numbers sequences, more efficiently answer specific questions. A group rapid used at authors'...

Vascular disease is strongly associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, it important to establish normative cerebrovascular changes in aging populations. In this study, we assess sex-specific, age-related total cerebral blood flow (tCBF) and parenchymal volume 754 cognitively healthy, older adults. We further investigate whether the same are observed normalized by volume. found (1) significant decrease tCBF age both sexes, (2) no correlation between male subjects, (3) female subjects.

Constant, non-pulsatile flow in the portal venous system offers possibility of time-averaged reconstruction for shortening acquisition time. We acquired both a 10min and 3min radial 4D MRI (PCVIPR) 10 subjects test-retest paradigm. Time-averaged exams were compared to reference standard, i.e., cardiac-phase resolved exam (14 timeframes). All datasets analyzable with quality rated as “good” all exams. Small vessels best visualized data. Conservation mass analysis repeatability yielded...

Motivation: To evaluate the potential of portal flow as a biomarker metabolic-dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in obese patients undergoing weight loss surgery (WLS). Goal(s): Determine feasibility non-contrast 4D Flow patients, to assess whether is impacted by BMI and presence MASH. Approach: Portal was quantified at 5 timepoints before after WLS. Mass conservation inter-observer agreement assessed validation. Results were correlated with presence/absence biopsy-proven Results:...

Motivation: This study is driven by the need to understand intricate relationship between cerebrovascular disease (CVD) and Alzheimer's (AD) pathology. Goal(s): In this study, we aim investigate correlations CVD markers, AD biomarkers white matter (WM) microstructure. Approach: To achieve these goals, used 4D flow MRI neurite orientation dispersion density imaging (NODDI) utilized statistical models examine relationships vascular WM index. Results: Our results identified significant...

Streamlines from 4D-flow MRI have been used clinically for intracranial blood-flow tracking. However, deterministic and stochastic errors degrade streamline quality. The purpose of this study is to integrate displacement corrections, probabilistic streamlines, novel fluid constraints improve selective tracking emulate "virtual bolus injections."Both artifacts (deterministic) velocity noise (stochastic) inherently occur during phase-contrast acquisitions. Here, two correction methods,...

Purpose This study addresses the challenges in obtaining abdominal 4D flow MRI of obese patients. We aimed to evaluate spectral saturation and inner volume excitation as methods mitigating artifacts originating from adipose signals, with goal enhancing image quality improving quantification. Methods Radial acquisitions fat mitigation (inner [IVE] intermittent [FS]) were compared a standard slab selective (SSE) test–retest 15 participants. IVE selectively excited cylindrical region interest,...

4D flow MRI of the portal vein has potential to provide diagnostic value for detecting and staging certain liver diseases. To date, it is unknown whether weight loss influences in obese patients. We aimed investigate effect on rate measured by non-contrast patients undergoing surgery. Preliminary data this ongoing study detected no statistically significant change mean volumetric subjects during 2-6 months loss. However, normalized body or BMI increased significantly.

4D flow MRI of the abdomen is challenging in obese patients due to confounding streak artifacts from fat and large imaging volume. This ongoing study aims test different mitigation strategies improve image quality. We acquired three 10-min contrast-enhanced, radial sequences: 1) with clinically used standard parameters, 2) inner volume excitation, 3) saturation. Preliminary results confirm best signal-to-noise ratio, longest streamlines fewest streak-artifacts using excitation. Flow rate...

MRA is essential for neurovascular evaluation with applications in anatomic mapping, atherosclerotic disease, stroke, aneurysm, vascular malformations, and dysfunction neurodegenerative diseases. TOF the most used technique but has some disadvantages. Many new important advancements flow imaging have emerged both without use of contrast agents. The purpose this article was to highlight appropriate advantages, pitfalls, traditional more advanced techniques including TOF, phase MRA, 4D flow,...
