It has been known for many years that most mushrooms with effects against cancer belong to the family Polyporaceae s.l. (Agaricales s.l.). However, components responsible such action have not clearly defined. In Japan, in 1968, a hot water extract from some edible belonging s.l., showed marked host-mediated antitumor activity. Since then, numerous researchers isolated active polysaccharides and identified them be (1→3)-β-D-glucopyranans (1→6)-β-D-glucosyl branch containing protein. Several...

In the course of our screening work for new types lipase inhibitors, hesperidin was identified as a simple and small molecular weight inhibitor in peels Citrus unshiu. Hesperidin inhibited activity from porcine pancreas that Pseudomonas, their IC50 32 132 μg/ml, respectively. Hesperidin, neohesperidin, narirutin, naringin are known main flavonoids Neohesperidin also procine pancreas, but did not have any effect on Pseudomonas. Narirutin show this lipases animal experiments, concentration...

Abstract Out of the several thousand species mushrooms (Basidiomycetes and Ascomycetes) on earth, 1500 are found in Japan. Many these valuable as gene pool sources which can be utilized by biotechnology to develop new foods medicines. edible now being studied for their nutritional flavor properties. To utilize full potential mushrooms, it is necessary consider toxicity poisonous ones also improve food sanitation practices associated with cultivation, processing, preservation, storage mushrooms.
