Sea level rose rapidly from the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, ∼18,000 years ago) until it stabilized about 7000 ago. A millennium later, rudiments of early civilizations appeared. However, factors that might have spurred first are a subject debate, with proposals ranging across many possibilities drought to influence individual rulers. We hypothesize sea stabilization contributed significantly rapid advent civilizations. Evidence regions around world shows societies class distinctions emerged...
Nekton dynamics were studied in two contrasting habitats Terminos Lagoon, Mexico. Over an annual cycle, a total of 83 fish species used the high‐salinity fringing mangrove/ Thalassia testudinum habitat and biomass ranged from 0.43 to 3.43 g m −2 . The highest occurred during dry season when aquatic primary production was (i.e. 333 C year −1 ). By contrast, 65 freshwater low‐salinity riverine mangrove/Crassostrea virginica/Vallisneria 0.57 1.48 with occurring wet season, time this 219 high‐...
In an energy-scarce future, ecosystem services will become more important in supporting the human economy. The primary role of ecology be sustainable management ecosystems. Energy scarcity affect a number ways. Ecology expensive, which justified by its help solving societal problems, especially maintaining services. Applied research on highly productive ecosystems, including agroecosystems, dominate ecology. may less collegial and competitive. Biodiversity preservation closely tied to...
Catfishes of the Family Ariidae are characterized as eurythermal and euryhallne inhabitants estuarine waters. In Southern Gulf Mexico (Terminos Lagoon) there 3 species: Arius felis, A. melanopus, Bagre rnarinus.Juveniles melanopus occur in fluvial-lagoon system (FLS) areas with oysters Crassostrea virginica, while adults throughout lagoon.A.melanopusreaches sexual maturity at 160 mm total length (TL) reproduces FLS salinities < 12 ppt, temperatures 2 35 "C high turbidity waters.Males to 222...
ABSTRACT We analyze the dynamics of post-glacial coastal margin (CM) productivity and explore how it affected emergence six complex CM societies. Following deglaciation, global relative sea level stabilized after ∼7000 BP significantly increased in many areas. Primary secondary (fish) likely by an order magnitude or more. Aquatic animals were readily available providing sources polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, high-quality protein, nutrients, especially essential to human nutrition. In...

Deltas and estuaries built by the Mississippi/Atchafalaya River (MAR) in United States Usumacinta/Grijalva (UGR) Mexico account for 80 percent of all Gulf (GoM) coastal wetlands outside Cuba. They rank first second freshwater discharge to GoM owe their natural resilience a modular geomorphology that spreads risk across coast-scape while providing ecosystem connectivity through shelf plumes connect estuaries. Both river systems generate large strongly influence fisheries production over areas...
