ABSTRACT Viruses can control the structure of bacterial communities in aquatic environments. The aim this project was to determine if cyanophages (viruses specific cyanobacteria) could exert a controlling influence on abundance potentially toxic cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa (host). M. isolated, cultured, and characterized from subtropical monomictic lake—Lake Baroon, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. viral lake were separated cyanobacterial grazers by filtration chloroform...

A patient given long-term total parenteral nutrition acquired a zinc deficiency severe enough to cause typical cutaneous manifestations of acrodermatitis enteropathica. This report, the first detailed one, our knowledge, such an association, adds accumulating evidence that supplementation trace elements is needed in nutrition. (<i>JAMA</i>235:2399-2402, 1976)

Synthetic pyrethroids are lipophilic insecticides whose biological activity seems to be directly related their chemical structure. In this investigation differences in cutaneous sensation were detected by human participants between synthetic with a cyano group the (S)-configuration of 3-phenoxybenzyl alcohol molecular structure (fenvalerate) and those that do not (permethrin). A strong relation was noted insecticidal potency degree induced for alpha-cyano non-cyano pyrethroids, prominent...

Synthetic pyrethroids are potent insecticides, utilized for food protection and general pest control. Numerous investigations have indicated that ultra-low volume applications effective may eliminate the developing problem of resistance to currently insecticides. The most prominent health symptom accompanies topical contact with these agents appears be a cutaneous sensation, paresthesia. In this investigation, substantial difference in degree paresthesia was noted between formulated grade 4...

† Five cases of Kaposi sarcoma with vinblastine sulfate treatment were compared 18 reported in the literature. Our experience a low-dosage schedule emphasizes that toxicity is not necessary for favorable result. Vinblastine seems to be an effective and, selected cases, may supplement radiation therapy or used alone. (<i>Arch Dermatol</i>112:958-961, 1976)

Their increased usage in recent years has established them a serious competitor against the currently available pesticides. Reported cases of occupational exposure have noted presence paresthesia without clinical symptoms erythema, edema, or vesiculation. Pilot studies were performed with six prophylactic agents to assess their capability preventing ameliorating that accompanies exposure. Vitamin E...
