In the framework of upgrade Pierre Auger Observatory, a new high voltage module is being employed for power supply 1-inch photomultiplier added to each water-Cherenkov detector surface array with aim increasing dynamic range measurements. This located in dedicated box near electronics and comprises low consumption DC-DC converter hosted inside an aluminum box. All modules have undergone specific tests verify their reliability extreme environmental conditions Argentinian pampa. this paper, we...
With the forthcoming of space borne observatories devoted to research Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR) in decade 1020eV, new challenges are posed experimental techniques. Mounted on International Space Station, Extreme Universe Observatory board Japanese Experimental Module (JEM-EUSO) will rely well established fluorescence technique observe Extensive Air Showers(EAS) propagating atmosphere from space. The EUSO Simulation and Analysis Framework (ESAF) has been developed this context...
The trigger system of the Surface Detector (SD) Pierre Auger Observatory is described, from identification candidate showers ($E>1$ EeV) at level a single station, among huge background (mainly muons), up to selection real events and rejection random coincidences higher central (including reconstruction accuracy). Efficiency station evaluated using data , high performance event hierarchy will be demonstrated.
Abstract The MERLINO project is developing a multi-detector setup with the goal of evaluating beam stopping power from Prompt-Gamma-Timing measurements in proton therapy. detectors are based on cerium-doped lanthanum bromide crystal, LaBr 3 :Ce, coupled to photo-multiplier tubes. system characterization ongoing and first calibration two showed 124 ps σ E / = 3% for timing energy resolution, respectively. measured experimental parameters were then used carry out preliminary estimation power....
The X-ray Calibration Facility (XCF) is a table-top, open-design irradiation setup for research, available at the Physics Department of University Turin. It offers beams photons different energies and with various spatial polarization configurations. These characteristics allow XCF to be suitable facility calibration test energy, position sensitive detectors.
