This study investigated the impact of using digital stories in promoting deeper understanding nursing students about palliative care concepts. Students (N = 134) created a 5-minute narrated story utilizing VoiceThread technology that synthesized and applied knowledge had been presented class course readings. Postsurvey focus group evaluation data revealed through writing sharing stories, embraced personal complex nature care.
Educating nurses about palliative and end-of-life (EOL) care is a high priority in health settings. The purpose of this study was to assess nurses' perceived competency regarding the provision EOL hospitalized patients. This surveyed from 25 pediatric adult acute intensive units (ICU; N = 583) Quantitative data analysis descriptive correlational. Qualitative identified themes participant concerns.Data revealed that significantly higher ICU (p <.0001). Mean scores were when had more than 10...
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network ([NCCN], 2017) defines palliative care as a special type of patient- and family-centered emphasizing the management physical, psychosocial, spiritual that is guided by patient goals values. NCCN (2017) asserts should begin at diagnosis serious illness be provided throughout life-prolonging treatment, including end-of-life (EOL) care. Significant improvements in quality life mood have been noted when early was initiated among patients with lung cancer...
Background: The Institute of Medicine identifies that quality palliative/end-of-life (EOL) care should be provided to patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses and their families by competently prepared health professionals. Purpose: This study assessed perceived concerns professionals pertaining the delivery palliative/EOL in hospital setting. specific aim was determine thematic which emerged from respondents’ impressions a memorable patient experience. Methods: Interdisciplinary at...
Vitamin D is critical for the growth and development of calves positively contributes to immune function cattle. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin (25(OH)D) concentrations above 20 ng/mL have traditionally been considered adequate cattle, but recent evidence has indicated that below 30 are insufficient immunity. Because little information available regarding vitamin status beef objective this study was evaluate cow-calf herds on pasture as affected by season location. samples were collected from 43...

In the United States, most deaths occur in hospitals, with approximately 25% of hospitalized patients having palliative care needs. Therefore, provision good end-of-life (EOL) to these is a priority. However, research assessing staff preparedness for EOL lacking. To assess health-care professionals' self-perceived competencies regarding patients.Descriptive study among professionals. The instrument (End-of-Life Questionnaire) contains 28 questions knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related...
This experiment examined the relationship between prenatal stress and subsequent calf temperament through weaning. The stressor used was repeated transportation of pregnant Brahman cows for 2 h at 60 ± 5, 80 100 120 140 5 d gestation. Prenatally stressed calves ( = 41) were compared with controls 44; dams did not undergo during pregnancy) from wk age until weaning (average 174.8 1.3 d). Temperament defined by pen score (PS; 1 calm excitable), exit velocity (EV; m/sec), (TS; (PS + EV)/2)...
The objective of this experiment was to identify genome-wide differential methylation DNA in young prenatally stressed (PNS) bull calves. Mature Brahman cows (n = 48) were transported for 2-h periods at 60 ± 5, 80 100 120 and 140 5 d gestation or maintained as nontransported Controls 48). Methylation from white blood cells a subset 28-d-old intact male offspring 7 PNS; n Control) assessed via reduced representation bisulfite sequencing. Samples PNS bulls contained 16,128 CG, 226 CHG, 391 CHH...

Palliative care education at the undergraduate and graduate level is necessary to improve competency confidence of nurses ultimately patients with a chronic illness. Unfortunately, curriculum in nursing programs lacks palliative content, resulting lack preparation among students. The purpose this study examine effect educating students utilizing an interactive, multimodality class that focuses on end-of-life care. Care Quiz for Nurses Frommelt Attitude Toward Dying survey were used assess...
OBJECTIVE This study examined the impact of MINDBODYSTRONG ® program on mental health and lifestyle behaviors among a sample staff nurses, clinical nurse leaders, faculty, when offered after onset COVID-19 pandemic. BACKGROUND Previous studies have demonstrated decreased anxiety depressive symptoms, improved job satisfaction, sustained healthy in newly licensed RNs. has not been studied with experienced nurses. In addition, use virtual format is unique. METHODS A pre-post design was used for...

Abstract The objective of this experiment was to examine potential differential methylation DNA as a mechanism for altered behavioral and stress responses in prenatally stressed (PNS) compared with nonprenatally (Control) young bull calves. Mature Brahman cows (n = 48) were transported 2-h periods at 60 ± 5, 80 100 120 140 5 d gestation (Transported group) or maintained nontransported Controls 48). From the offspring born Transported Control cows, subset 28-d-old intact bulls 7 PNS; n...

The progressive care unit implemented an evidenced-based intensive mobility protocol with their chronically critically ill patient population. labor/workload necessary to meet standards was identified barrier implementation. Workflow redesign of technicians, interdisciplinary teamwork, and creating a culture meeting led the successful implementation this protocol. Data revealed that episodes increased from 1.4 at preinitiative 4.7 12 months postinitiative, surpassing goal 3 per 24 hours.
The objective of this study was to assess the influence prenatal stress (PNS) on innate immune responses an endotoxin challenge in weaned bull calves. Altered response lipopolysaccharide (LPS), as characterized by changes a range variables hypothesized PNS Brahman cows (n = 96; 48 stressed transportation at five stages gestation and Controls) produced 85 calves, from which 16 uncastrated male (bull) calves each Control treatment were selected for LPS period. Rectal temperature (RT), sickness...
