We analysed N2 - and carbon (C) fixation in individual cells of Baltic Sea cyanobacteria by combining stable isotope incubations with secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Specific growth rates based on C-fixation were higher for Dolichospermum spp. than Aphanizomenon sp. Nodularia spumigena. The cyanobacterial biomass, however, was dominated sp., which contributed most to total -fixation surface waters the Northern Proper. Pseudanabaena colonial picocyanobacteria not detectable. N....

Abstract Dinitrogen (N2)-fixation by cyanobacteria living in symbiosis with pleurocarpous feather mosses (for example, Pleurozium schreberi and Hylocomium splendens) represents the main pathway of biological N input into N-depleted boreal forests. Little is known about role cyanobacterial community contributing to observed temporal variability N2-fixation. Using specific nifH primers targeting four major clusters quantitative PCR, we investigated how composition, abundance expression varied...

In this research work, we propose macronutrients incorporated slow-release based nano-fertilizer using nanozeolite as a carrier. A simple chemical approach was used to synthesis the proposed composite fertilizer (NZCF). To gain an insight into properties, morphology and structure of synthesized NZCF, it further characterized by different techniques such powder XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TG/DTA. considerable enhancement quality water retention capacity soil observed result applying NZCF when compared...

The results from 1-year of measurements PM2.5, organic carbon (OC) and black (BC) concentrations are presented for an urban traffic-influenced site, the Farm Gate in Dhaka, Bangladesh. were based on sampling using two Air Metrics simultaneously operating samplers. OC BC PM2.5 varied 5–96 μg/m3 4–48 μg/m3, respectively. 11–328 μg/m3. annual particulate matter (POM) accounted 46 ± 11% whereas stayed at 33 12%. effects meteorological conditions variability concentration examined contribution...

Microalgae growth is influenced by numerous culture parameters, and temperature considered one of the vital factors among them. In this study, a computational model related for microalgae cell to irradiance an outdoor operated Horizontal Loop Tubular Photobioreactor (HLTP) developed. The effects direct diffuse solar radiation on (PBR) are in model. An HLTP measuring length 20.5 m radius 0.025 has been assumed simulation carried out specific date where sunlight available. Thus, meteorological...

Aphanizomenon is a widespread genus of nitrogen (N2)-fixing cyanobacteria in lakes and estuaries, accounting for large fraction the summer N2-fixation Baltic Sea. However, information about its cell-specific carbon (C)- rates early growth season has not previously been reported. We combined various methods to study N2-fixation, photosynthesis respiration field-sampled Sea sp. during at 10°C. Stable isotope incubations situ light intensities 24 h with secondary ion mass spectrometry showed an...

Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGA) are sterol-derived neurotoxic defence substances present in several members of the Solanaceae. In potato (Solanum tuberosum), high SGA levels may render tubers harmful for consumption. Tuber depend on genetic factors, and can increase as a response to certain stresses environmental conditions. To identify genes underlying cultivar variation tuber levels, we investigated two cultivars differing their accumulation during wounding or light exposure; known...

Abstract A water-soluble porphyrin, 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octabromo-5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (H2obtpps4−; H2P4−) was synthesized and the equilibrium constants have been determined for reaction of H2obtpps4− with lithium(I), cadmium(II), mercury(II) at 25 °C in I = 0.1 mol dm−3 (NaNO3). Abstract To explore mechanisms in plant sterol homeostasis, we have here increased the turnover of sterols Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) and potato (Solanum tuberosum) plants by overexpressing four mouse cDNA encoding cholesterol hydroxylases (CHs), hydroxylating at C-7, C-24, C-25, or C-27 positions. Compared to wild type, types transformant showed varying degrees phenotypic alteration, strongest one being CH25 lines, which were dark-green dwarfs resembling brassinosteroid-related...

Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGA) are toxic secondary metabolites naturally occurring in the potato, as well certain other Solanaceous plant species, such tomato, eggplant and pepper. To investigate steroidal origin of SGA biosynthesis, cut potato shoots were fed cholesterol labelled with deuterium (D) sterol ring structure (D5- or D6-labelled), side chain (D7-labelled), analysed after three five weeks. The presence D-labelled by GC-MS LC-MS/MS, respectively. When feeding solubilised Tween-80,...
