A study was undertaken to ascertain whether the ingestion of a tranquilizing drug alters results thyroid function studies. In 31 euthyroid and 12 hyperthyroid patients, thyroidal 24-hour mdioiodine uptake serum cholesterol protein-bound iodine levels were determined. These tests repeated after ten twenty-one days therapy with pronnizine, meprobamate, hydroxyzine or reserpine.
