We report the synthesis of single-crystalline silver nanowires atomic dimensions. The ultrathin wires with 0.4 nanometer width grow up to micrometer-scale length inside pores self-assembled calix[4]hydroquinone nanotubes by electro-/photochemical redox reaction in an ambient aqueous phase. present subnanowires are very stable under air and environments, unlike previously reported metal approximately 1 diameter, which existed only transiently ultrahigh vacuum. exist as coherently oriented...

Abstract Six mammalian phospholipase C isozymes (PLC-beta 1, PLC-beta 2, PLC-gamma PLC-delta and 2) have been identified at both protein DNA levels. Here, cDNAs corresponding to a previously unidentified PLC isozyme were isolated from rat thyroid cell FRTL cDNA library. Comparison of the predicted amino acid sequence this new with other known revealed high degree overall similarity 1 2. Thus, was named 3. 2 also that deduced amino-terminal 3 incomplete by 10-20 acids. With use antibodies...

A series of novel β-amyloid (Aβ) aggregate-specific ligands, 2-(4'-dimethylaminophenyl)-6-iodoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine, 16(IMPY), and its related derivatives were prepared. An in vitro binding study with preformed Aβ aggregates showed that 16(IMPY) bromo derivative competed 2-(4'-dimethylaminophenyl)-6-iodobenzothiazole, [125I]7(TZDM), a known ligand for aggregates, high affinities (Ki = 15 10 nM, respectively). In autoradiography brain sections transgenic mouse (Tg2576) [125I]16(IMPY)...

A benzene-based tripodal imidazolium receptor utilizing the strong (C-H)(+)...X(-) hydrogen bonding interaction between moieties and halide anions is extensively investigated both theoretically experimentally. Ab initio calculations predict that this has a very high affinity for fluoride ion (F(-)). The association constant free energy gain of N-butyl 2 F(-) in acetonitrile were measured to be 2.1 x 10(5) M(-1) -7.25 kcal/mol, respectively, showing highly polar organic solvents.

We have characterized inositol phospholipid-specific phospholipase C (PLC) isozymes in bovine retina. Chromatography of a retinal homogenate on heparin column partially resolved six peaks PLC activity, which differed their relative selectivities for the substrates phosphatidyl 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) and phosphatidylinositol (PI). Five were shown to correspond known PLC-beta 1, 3, PLC-gamma PLC-delta 2. 1 fractions identified by immunoblotting with isozyme-specific antibodies, 2 was direct...

[formula: see text] A novel type of palladium-catalyzed cascade cyclization-coupling reaction that proceeds with suppressed beta-hydride elimination has been found. One the N-sulfonyl oxygens is suggested to coordinatively stabilize an alkylpalladium intermediate, thus preventing intermediate from usual beta-elimination. This first sequential coupling where Suzuki and Heck reactions can compete. The provides efficient synthetic route 4-methylene-3-arylmethylpyrrolidines, which are not...

On basis extensive theoretical studies, we conclude arises from subtle interplay charged H-bonds cation−π interactions. The approach employed herein very useful in rational design functional molecular systems.

Direct nanowiring of CNTs between micrometer islands reported to have been achieved by a growth barrier technique, which prevents vertical the CNTs, i.e., towards substrate.
