Scrapie infection, which converts cellular prion protein (PrPC) into the pathological and infectious isoform (PrPSc), leads to neuronal cell death, glial activation PrPSc accumulation. Previous studies reported that PrPC regulates RhoA/Rho-associated kinase (ROCK) signaling connexin 43 (Cx43) expression is upregulated in vitro vivo prion-infected models. However, whether there a link between RhoA/ROCK Cx43 disease pathogenesis uncertain. Here, we investigated role of diseases using infection...
Prion infection leads to neuronal cell death, glial activation, and the accumulation of misfolded prion proteins. However, altered cellular environments in animals with diseases are poorly understood. In central nervous system, cells connect cytoplasm adjacent via connexin (Cx)-assembled gap junction channels allow direct exchange small molecules, including ions, neurotransmitters, signaling which regulate activities connected cells. Here, we investigate role Cx43 pathogenesis diseases....
Scrapie is a mammalian transmissible spongiform encephalopathy or prion disease that predominantly affects sheep and goats. has been shown to overcome the species barrier via experimental infection of other rodents. To confirm re-transmissibility mouse-adapted ME7 scrapie strain ovine protein (PrP) transgenic mice, mice an ovinized mouse line carrying Suffolk PrP gene contained A136 R154 Q171/ARQ allele were intracerebrally inoculated with brain homogenates obtained from terminally ill...
