Background We evaluated whether the addition of a small dose ketamine or fentanyl would lead to reduction in total propofol consumed without compromising safety and recovery patients having endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS). Methods A 210 adult undergoing elective EUS under sedation were included study. Patients randomized into three groups. premedicated intravenously with normal saline group 1, 50 µg 2, 0.5 mg/kg 3. All received intravenous for sedation. Propofol consumption mg/kg/h was...

Background: Central venous cannulation (CVC) is frequently required during the management of patients with liver disease deranged conventional coagulation parameters (CCP). Since CVC known to be associated vascular complications, it standard practice transfuse Fresh-Frozen Plasma or platelets correct CCP. These CCP may not reflect true coagulopathy in disease. Additionally when performed under ultrasound guidance (USG-CVC) itself reduces incidence complications. Aim: To assess safety USG-CVC...

Coagulopathy after living donor hepatectomy (LDH) may endanger safety during removal of thoracic epidural catheter (TEC). The present study was conducted to evaluate the extent and duration immediate postoperative coagulopathy LDH.A retrospective analysis perioperative record LDH over three years IRB approval. Variables such as age, gender, BMI, ASA classification, liver volume on CT scan, preoperative INR, platelet count (PC) ALT each for five days noted. In addition, surgery, remnant...

Hepatic resection is a major surgery associated with intraoperative massive fluid shifts, blood loss, haemodynamic instability and risk of development post-hepatectomy liver failure. predisposes the patient to coagulopathy as well venous thrombosis. However, due deranged coagulation profile post-operatively, there dilemma in starting thromboprophylaxis. Our aim this study was determine incidence patients undergoing hepatectomy. In retrospective study, we included 86 who had undergone...

Background and Aims: Blood transfusion is unpredictable in liver transplantation associated with increased patient morbidity, mortality cost. This retrospective analysis was conducted to detect factors which could predict intraoperative of more than four units packed red blood cells (PRBCs) during elective living donor (LDLT). Methods: a single-centre study. Demographic, clinical data 258 adult patients who underwent LDLT from March 2009 January 2015 were analysed. Univariate multivariate...

Cerebral involvement is rare in polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) and mostly characterized by ischemic events intracranial hemorrhages secondary to cerebral aneurysms extremely rare. We report two patients of PAN with multiple aneurysms. One patient presented intracerebral hemorrhage the other were incidental findings asymptomatic. Both our cases suggest that are not very uncommon angiography should be considered while doing abdominal angiogram these patients.

Freedom from pain has almost developed to be a fundamental human right. Providing relief via epidural catheters in thoracic and upper abdominal surgeries is widely accepted. Pain through this technique not only provides continuous analgesia but also reduces post-operative pulmonary complications hastens recovery. Abstract Takayasu aortoarteritis (TA) rarely affects the nervous system, but when it does, usually manifests as cerebral ischemia or stroke. These strokes have mainly been attributed to stenotic extracranial vessels. Stenoses of intracranial vessels, although rare in TA, can occur due either embolization into vessel because vasculitic process itself. Intracranial aneurysms are very patients with TA. Bilateral cavernous internal carotid artery (ICA) rarer. They reported following radiation...
