The tobacco cutworm, Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) is a serious cosmopolitan pest that attacks several economically important crops such as maize, sorghum, chickpea, pigeon pea, cotton, and sunflower. It has developed resistance to most pesticides resulting in its continual outbreak. effect of caffeic acid on second instar larvae S. was evaluated by carrying out bioassays, nutritional assays, immune assays biochemical with phenolic acids. Bioassays carried showed growth inhibiting effects...

Abstract A 4-chloro-3-nitrophenol (4C3NP)-mineralizing bacterium, Pseudomonas sp. JHN was isolated from a waste water sample collected chemically-contaminated area, India by an enrichment method. utilized 4C3NP as sole carbon and energy source degraded it with the release of stoichiometric amounts chloride nitrite ions. Gas chromatography gas chromatography-mass spectrometry detected 4-chlororesorcinol major metabolite degradation pathway. Inhibition studies using 2,2′-dipyridyl showed that...

Seed oils of Gynandropsis gynandra, Impatiens balsamina, Celastrus paniculata, Embelia ribes and Mucuna pruriens were investigated for their anthelmintic property against Pheritima posthuma . Three concentrations (10, 50 100 mg/ml) each oil studied in a bioassay, which involved the determination time paralysis death worm. All exhibited moderate to significant activity. showed best activity both parameters. Piperazine citrate (10 was included assay as standard reference drug.

Eighteen bacterial strains, isolated from a waste water sample collected chemically contaminated site, Patancheru (17°32′N 78°16′E/17.53°N 78.27°E), India, were able to decolorize 4-chloro-2-nitrophenol (4C2NP) in the presence of an additional carbon source. These eighteen 4C2NP-decolorizing strains have been identified as members four different genera, including Bacillus , Paenibacillus Pseudomonas and Leuconostoc based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing phylogenetic analysis. Most bacteria (10)...

A degradation pathway of 2-chloro-4-aminophenol (2C4AP) was studied in an Arthrobacter sp. SPG that utilized 2C4AP as its sole source carbon and energy. The initiated by a 2C4AP-deaminase catalyzed the conversion into chlorohydroquinone (CHQ) with removal ammonium ion. In next step, CHQ-dehalogenase dehalogenated CHQ to hydroquinone (HQ) cleaved γ-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde HQ-dioxygenase. also investigated sterile non-sterile soil microcosms using strain SPG. results show cells degraded...
