Majority of Malawians have not yet adopted COVID-19 mitigation measures despite having knowledge about its infectivity, morbidity, and fatality. Understanding drivers hesitancy to adoption is critical as it can inform prevention programs. This study explores Malawians' risk perception, the associated constraints in efforts. A Health Belief Model (HBM) approach was used understand perceived factors that undermine public health messages reduce spread pandemic Malawi.

Saliva is an attractive specimen type for asymptomatic surveillance of COVID-19 in large populations due to its ease collection and demonstrated utility detecting RNA from SARS-CoV-2. Multiple saliva-based viral detection protocols use a direct-to-RT-qPCR approach that eliminates nucleic acid extraction but can reduce sensitivity. To improve test sensitivity while maintaining speed, we developed robotic method SARS-CoV-2 saliva samples with high throughput. Using this assay, the Free...

Abstract Background Substance use disorders (SUDs) have been consistently shown to exhibit moderate intergenerational continuity (1–3). While much research has examined genetic and social influences on addiction, less attention paid clients’ lay persons’ perceptions of the heritability SUD (4) implications for treatment. Methods For this qualitative study, twenty-six structured Working Model Child Interviews (WMCI) were conducted with mothers receiving inpatient These interviews thematically...

Human service organizations (HSO) have increasingly recognized the value of employing trauma-informed care (TIC) in a variety practice settings. Evidence suggests that effectively adopting TIC has shown client improvements. Organizational barriers to implementation, however, exist. To improve practice, attitudes related (ARTIC) scale was developed measure staff and beliefs towards TIC. The ARTIC been widely adopted by researchers without evaluating its psychometric performance diverse...

Clinical and surveillance testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus relies overwhelmingly on RT-qPCR-based diagnostics, yet several popular assays require 2–3 separate reactions or rely detection of a single viral target, which adds significant time, cost, risk false-negative results. Furthermore, multiplexed RT-qPCR tests that detect at least two genes in reaction are typically not affordable large scale clinical adaptable to multiple PCR machines plate layouts. We developed assay using Luna Probe...

Objectives Veteran parents experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may resort to harsh parenting. The indirect pathway from parental military-related PTSD parenting, and the moderating role of parents' pre-military trauma histories, has been less explored. Informed by mentalization theory, as well trauma-sensitive growth perspectives, we aim explore associations between veteran PTSD, mentalization, prior before military service.
