We evaluated the effect of 13.56 MHz modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT) boost in neoadjuvant treatment for cT3-4- or cN-positive rectal cancer. Sixty patients who completed mEHT feasibility trial (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02546596) were analyzed. Whole pelvis radiotherapy 40 Gy, twice a week during radiotherapy, and surgical resection 6–8 weeks following performed. The median age was 59. follow-up period 58 (6–85) months. Total/near total tumor regression observed 20 (33.3%),...

Although blunt abdominal trauma is sometimes readily identified in patients with trauma, its diagnosis and treatment can be delayed due to various limitations including unconsciousness or unstable vital functions, which may cause shock blood loss sepsis. Confirming the correlation between specific damage of organ recommended surgical intervention will allow for predicting based on underlying mechanisms.

OBJECTIVES: A significant proportion of the population has a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The intracardiac pressure during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) may differ from that normal circulation, which result in right-to-left shunt presence PFO. In this study, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) was conducted to evaluate whether CPR carried out patients after cardiac arrest causes shunt. DESIGN: retrospective observational study. SETTING: One academic medical center January 2017 April...

In patients with severe injury, predicting the injury site without using advanced diagnostic modalities can help formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan based on suspected site. This study aimed to determine correlation between trauma mechanism in severely injured blunt trauma. We retrospectively analyzed clinical characteristics-including age, sex, date of emergency room (ER) visit, time (car accident, motorcycle bicycle pedestrian fall, slipping rolling down, crush assault, others), final...

Background: A proper nutritional plan for resuscitated patients is important in intensive care; however, specific guidelines have not yet been established. This study aimed to determine the incidence of diet-related complications that were affected by timing enteral nutrition after cardiac arrest. Methods: retrospective and 1:1 propensity score matching involved who recovered nontraumatic, out-of-hospital arrest at a tertiary hospital. Patients divided into an early support (ENS) group...
