Rice (Oryza sativa) plays a significant role in achieving global food security. However, it suffers from several biotic and abiotic stresses that seriously affect its production. blast caused by hemibiotropic fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most widespread devastating diseases rice. The crop rice vulnerable to this seedlings adult plant stages affecting leaves, nodes, collar, panicles roots. This disease can be effectively managed through host resistance. Of 100 resistance...

The dominant rice blast resistance gene Pi54 cloned by map-based cloning approach from indica cultivar Tetep confers broad spectrum to Magnaporthe oryzae. In this investigation, an orthologue of designated as Pi54of was Oryza officinalis conferring high degree M. oryzae and is functionally validated. We have also characterized the protein demonstrate its interaction with AVR-Pi54 protein. encoded ∼43 kDa small unique cytoplasmic LRR family disease having Zinc finger domain overlapped leucine...

Our research work demonstrates the single bead alginate-encapsulation, interim storing and conversion of Tylophora indica (Burm. Fil.) Merrill. Most effective encapsulation in vitro nodal segments [(4 ± 1) mm long], ensuing sphere-shaped artificial seeds similar morphology, was achieved through 75 mmol⋅L−1 calcium chloride (CaCl2 ⋅ 2H2O) plus 3% (w/v) Na-alginate with 93.3% frequency. The earliest (within 7 days incubation) occurred half-strength liquid Murashige Skoog medium. Among three...

Cold-induced sweetening (CIS) is an unwanted physiological phenomenon in which reducing sugars (RS) get accumulated potato (Solanum tuberosum) upon cold storage. High RS content makes commercially unsuitable for processing due to the unacceptable brown color processed products like chips, fries, etc., and production of a potential carcinogen, acrylamide. UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (UGPase) catalyzes synthesis towards sucrose also involved regulation CIS potato. The objective present work...

Abstract Plant's response to fresh‐ and saline‐water flooding the resulting partial submergence, seems different due added complexities of element toxicity salinity. We identified a few rice genotypes which can tolerate combined stresses submergence salinity during saline water flooding. To gain mechanistic insights, we compared two genotypes: Varshadhan (freshwater‐flooding tolerant) Rashpanjor (both tolerant). found greater ethylene production increased “respiratory burst oxidase homolog”...

Cloning and functional characterization of plant pathogen inducible promoters is great significance for their use in the effective management diseases. The rice gene CYP76M7 was up regulated at 24, 48, 72 hours post inoculation (hpi) with two isolates Magnaporthe oryzae Mo-ei-11 Mo-ni-25. In this study, promoter cloned from cultivar HR-12, characterized functionally validated. Transcription Start Site mapped 45 bases upstream initiation codon. To validate promoter, 5' deletion analysis...

Rice blast caused by Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most destructive diseases causing extensive yield loss throughout world. The present study deals with identification stress responsive genes in susceptible rice cultivar HR 12 after challenge M. oryzae. Transcript profiling using Affymetrix 57 K GeneChip revealed a total 72 differentially expressed whose expression level was significantly altered under diseased condition. Molecular function enrichment analysis suggested that regulated...

Introduction Rice crop meets the calorie and nutritional requirements of a larger segment global population. Here, we report occurrence intra-varietal variation in popular rice landrace C14-8 traditionally grown under geographical isolation Andaman Islands. Methods Based on grain husk color, four groups were formed, wherein extent was studied by employing 22 agro-morphological biochemical traits. Results Among traits studied, flavonoid anthocyanin contents yield exhibited wider spectrum...

In this investigation, an attempt was made to identify quantitative trait locus (QTL)/gene associated with JIP-test parameters in rice. Thirty main effect additive QTLs (M-QTLs) along more than 500 digenic epistatic were detected using a backcross-derived population from tolerant genotype Pokkali (AC41585) and the susceptible counterpart IR64. These M-QTLs located almost all chromosomes except chromosome number 6 8. Most of showed pleiotropic effects. Positional similarity these overlapping...
